| MINI2 Newbie | Help!! how do i change the lower grille? Hi, i recently changed my top grille to chrome on my mini one diesel and now have purchased the lower part too which i need to change... but i have no idea how to, ive read loads on here about how its stuck on with adhesive tape and you can just pull it off with a bit of force?? and others saying you have to remove the bumper which i'd rather not do as this means taking into a garage so time and prob lots of £'s!!! if anyone knows how to do it and could give me some step by step tips i would be very grateful thanks!! |

Offline | The front bumper has to come off. Basically what you do is remove the front bumper and then you can push the prongs of the grill frame/surround back through from the back. Then pull off. Some are attached using double sided padded tape and this needs to be cleaned off. Its fairly simple but is fiddly and can take time. Get a haynes manual...it will help with this and many other little jobs |

Offline | I have to agree, as the "prongs of the grill frame/surround" are some times glued from behind, I have seen people do it without removing the bumper, but I wouldn't recommend it as there is a 90% chance you could damage the bumper & paintwork (prising it), so to do it properly the bumper has to come off .I was going to say, get the lower chrome mesh fitted while the bumper is removed (that's also easier fitted with the bumper off, in my opinion, although I have seen people do this without removing the front bumper), but I don't think they do a lower chrome mesh for a diesel .![]() ![]() ![]() Destined to live life £5 behind.
