| MINI2 Newbie | Mirrors and scoops, shiny precious things Hi, thinking of 'blinging' the front end a bit with chrome S air intake and chrome mirror caps. I've read the OE-spec mirror caps are £35-ish each from mini, but has anyone any experience of the cheaper stick-on-with-double-sided-tape ebay ones? Fitting would certainly be easier, I'm just worried they may un-install themselves after driving down a bumpy road or when it rains ![]() Likewise the bonnet scoops - chrome ones that stick over the existing scoop are available for £30-odd... but do they look cheap and nasty close up? Can you tell they're just stuck over the original painted scoop? Or do mini do their own quality version? Off for a potter around the mini vendors sites now to price stuff up. Ta in advance for any blingin' advice ![]() |

Offline | I have the genuine BMW chrome scoop and mirror caps, and for the money, I definately stick with these rather than glueing anything on. They will always look better than the fake stick on parts. The other thing to look at is what if you don't like the chrome parts after you've fitted them. If you have genuine BMW replacement parts then you can easily remove them and put the old ones back on, but if you stick chrome ones over them then you might not be able to get them off without ruining both the original ones and the new chrome replacement bits. The chrome parts are not too expensive anyway, they're far cheaper than carbon fibre ones, and surprisingly the chrome wing mirrors are even cheaper than ordinary painted ones! Plus I personally wouldn't stick things on a car worth £10K plus! Just my opinion anyway ![]() Mike |

| MINI2 Regular | I had stick on chrome mirror caps on one of my previous S, i have to say they didnt look very good, you can tell close up, and you can see the orginal mirror cap colour round the edges too ![]() Far better to spend a bit more and get original parts, least you could always sell them on again if u put the old ones back on before selling.. ![]() |
