Can facelift zenon headlights be put on an R53 and is it a straightforward job? Anyone done it on here?

Yes it is. Did mine yesterday! As long as you have the pre-face lift Xenons already in the swap is very easy.

All you need to do is unplug the battery (I dont like taking any chances!), unhook the power lead connector, unhook the headlight washer, uncrew the two reaining screws on the ballasts and unscrewing the three retaining bolts. To install the facelift just reconnect everything.

I am probably 2 on a scale of 10 for ability/willingness to DIY on a car but these were v easy and took me no longer than 1 hour to complete with most of that just figuring (and finding) which tools i needed for each part!

If your car hasn't got Xenon the facelift will still fit but you should ready varuous threads on here about coding and legality etc.

Great! Yes mine has already got the Zenons. Can I ask how much you paid for them?

And I've had it done to mine too. The parts themselves are actually dear enough (expect to pay a good few hundred quid from the dealer)...

Now you've got the answer, just a s a footnote, the R53 is the first gen Cooper S, facelift or not.

Try eBay first especially if you are prepared to wait

. I wasn't and got a new pair from my dealer - list price was £620 inc VAT but he gave me a discount £550 inc VAT. Well worth it the difference in looks and brightness are significant.
