But who cares

A badge is a badge, Just a brand to show people what u got. I have lohen and alta stuff on mine so i got their badges. Its when peeps start putting cooper badges on ONE or a GP Badge on an MCS then i will frown.

I will throw a further spanner in the Works !!!!!

Why is a first generation aero kit, an aero kit and a 2nd generation a JCW Aero kit.

I understand JCG had quite a lot of input into the 1st generation Works kit, I believe it was pretty much all theirs?

By the time of the second generation, JCG had shut down and the Works name had been sold off to BMW, so I think they became a little bit more liberal with the use of the name. I don't really know but I suspect the Works kit for the R56 is pretty much all BMW work? Which if it is pretty much throws the heritage link out the window.

It's all marketing at the end of the day.

Do you buy Heinz Baked Beans because everyone says they are the best or go for the supermarket brand that is probably half the price and made by the same people.

It never was calle da JCW aero kit. It was always just Aero kit.

As for beans, the best tasting on the market at the moment are Aldi own brand ( i know there proper cheap but very nice). hienz comes last imho and HP the newest of all beans comes second best as they have anice taste. The only hienz beans worth anything are the curried beans, but why are they only small half cans.

JCW and V5 Certificate

OK, so Ive just managed to read this thread, a bit late I grant you, but as an old farty, it takes me a while to get up the stairs nowdays!!.

As a JCW Works owner I have no particular probelm with anyone putting JCW badges on their non JCW car, in fact I used to do the same with my old minis and put 'ST Tuning' badges on the back when all it had was a pair of twin SU's and a large 3" exhaust and twin pipes out the rear, so what ,each to their own, no problem, but I would like to set one thing straight for the record,

(I am not trying to be anal about this but after reading earlier threads on such issues I felt inclined to put pen to paper..or digit to keyboard so to speak..

It has been stated that the GP is the only 'real Works'car as this is noted on the V5 Certificate as a JCW, and that all other cars were made as 'standard MCS's on the factory and the Works kit fitted after', therefore none on these are proper works cars as they do not have JCW on the V5 Document. this is incorrect.

All the latter 'factory produced' MCS JCW cars, (not the cars fitted with the JCW package either at the old Preston garage or by trained BMW technicians at the local dealer ) do have the model type = COOPERS JCW noted on the V5 certificates and therefore are 'officially' Works cars according to the DVLA the same as the GP.

I have been lucky enough to own both a 2003 Works (the car ordered new as a Works 200, the kit fitted by the dealer when only 5 miles on the clock - yes the V5 just says MCS !!) and I now one of the last late 2006 'Factory produced' JCW cars which does have a V5 Document stating ' Cooper S JCW', therefore a car that came off the production line as a 'Works'.

End of rant.

Thank you,

Now wheres my Horlicks !! Yawn
