De-chroming the line round the windo seals

Ok guys, My car has taken on a real moody sort of Black and Silver look, ie wheels going black, spotlights have been done in black. I am also changing the S-badges to Black, and really want to lose the chrome line that goes rounnd the screen , doors and rear hatch. i saw a car up Santa pod not so long ago that had black seals, but can't find a part number on REALOEM, so can anyone help me out.

I've done that to mine... Buy some black electrical tape... Very easy to do and very cheap... Looks superb too...

You might want to pick Pobsey's brains too, he's dechromed just about everything, including possibly his bathplug

does the tape last well,

Jove thanks for the offer, i think i have some in the garagem just did'nt realise thats what you had done, when i saw i assumed it was a stand BMW part, that will explaing the really puzzled look i got from the parts gyuy last time i asked. he said there was no such thing and i called him a liar cos i had seen yours. Doh!.

Ok, i will endeavour to have a go, thats good news though because it will be a lot cheaper than i had budgeted for.....lol

I've had the tape on the car for a while. Done lots of motorway driving and haven't had a problem with it yet.

I've wrapped the headlight rings in the past... Not that difficult to do... I think you'll be better off getting the handles sprayed though...

Ive done this also.....

.... I found some shiny black tape on the floor at work and thought "that looks the right size for my chrome strip" and it worked great.

Ive taken it off now as i dent put it on good enough and it was coming off, ill be re-doing it shortly but alot neater.

I was thinking about de-chroming the line around the windows, as well as using insulation tape as suggested previously we used to have a stripe man that called around who had loads of pin stripes (Go-faster stripes) in different colours & different thickness's sometimes cutting out the need to trim the tape to the thickness of the insert whether it's chrome or whatever making a neater job especially if your not a arts & crafts sort of a person, or just don't have the patience to cut it all to fit .

I know a stripe man doesn't call around to everybody's house but Halfords did used to sell the stripes as-well (not sure if they still do though ).

That does look good "ScottyBoy", I'm normally a fan of black and lots of chrome .

Mine's the one on the left.

Saw this company over on Nam a while back, looks like they do some really good stuff & with the £ - $ at such a good rate, stuff wouldn't be too expensive. The members name is Lagston. I found this pic of a door handle he's wrapped, on one of the threads. I think I'll be saving up for some goodies
