Aero or GP Front bumper

Right, i'm in the market for a New front Aero bumper as some of you may know, old one got broke. But availibility is an issue and looks like my Cooper S could be without for a few more weeks while I wait for an aero bumper to be made.

Anyway, having the GP sitting here too, someone suggested why not trying a GP front bumper which is available, but at twice the price of the aero bumper.

Now ive been kindly loaned a Stock Cooper S front bumper by my dealer to get me back on the road in the meantime, So ive a week or so to decide between a replacement Aero Bumper or a GP bumper.

Darthbladerni off the site kindly photoshopped a GP bumper onto my car. Getting mixed reactions, some loving the idea, some not, so thought i would ask the wider Mini2 audience what they think? Cause I cant decide, maybe I'm being mad contemplating it!

Would a GP bumper look good or not?
Would it fit ok with the car being lowered?
Would I be shunned by all the GP owners?

consider yourself shunned

seriously, I'd go with the aero kit bumper on there

The only problem I have is knowing which one to drive?

Have to agree with Rakey on this one. Good photoshopping, but not a great idea!

aero.... by a mile!!

It just match at all, it looks like a stuck on bumper from a completely different car... oh wait... it is

Seriously your car looks perfect, don't change it... although some carbon wouldn't hurt

Me personally I would stick with the Aero bumper, I've never been a fan of the GP front bumper anyway, I like the chunkiness and the inserts around the fog's but I've never liked the strip under the under the bonnet grille (lower part of the grille), but mainly the way the bumper doesn't match up-to the black plastic arches (it just looks odd to me, I'd like them more if the rest of the arches etc... etc... where colour coded but then that raises further issues).

I love the GPs though (kept original, or near to original, so that they can be put back to original ).

I really like the rear GP bumpers though with the inserts etc... etc...

Mine's the one on the left.

I think you should choose whatever you prefer!! At the end of the day, it's what you think of your car and what you like, not other people!! In my view both look great and the GP bumper just makes it that little bit different to all the others!!

Looking at a GP next to a standard Cooper S the bumpers look the same just the GP has different inserts and different black trim round the edge!!

I would go with the GP front bumper makes the car look different, I was thinking about putting one on my JCW, having the reflectors filled in and getting my arches colour coded to match. Wonder if you could modify the intakes to fit the fog lamps

Yep! the rear bumper does look the same as an S rear bumper, just the inserts & end pieces (with lights / reflectors) different, the front doesn't have the side pieces on (black plastic trims that match too the bonnet arches).

I think a full GP set-up bumpers Front & rear & skirts would look really good on a standard COOPER / S, with colour coding as everything would match up then IMO, and I think I would fill in the reflector / light holes .

The problem would be getting someone to let you use the chassis # to obtain spares , "PmP" is OK as he has one (GP) in the family, I think .

Anyway enough of that, as said, it's upto "PmP" too decide what he actually wants on his MINI .

I agree - do it to annoy the GP owners .

Actually if you like it why not - it's your car.

I like the cleaner look of the Aero front bumper. The GP bumper does look a little out of place with the rest of the car...

All the best,
Andrew.

Aero.

But if you could get rid of the fussy-looking silver 'intakes' (or paint them black) it would be a closer-run thing.

I like the GP bumper, it is different. Although I like the aero kit also.
PmP, it is your car do what you want.

Remember it is only a photoshop.

I like the GP bumper as it is different and looks the part.

Defo Aero!!
Love the GP bump, but on a GP. If replacing with a GP bump then replace skirts and rear as well. On its own, looks way too fussy, out of place, IMO.

Well here's a quick photo of my car after waiting for several weeks new bumper arrived and was fitted today.

Think I made the sensible choice.
