Spot light kit for MINI One

I have seen a spot light kit on a well known auction site and they look quite easy to fit, then it says about taking it to dealer and getting them to code something.

Can it just be wired so it works with the main beam?

Thanks!

The spot light kit you speak of sounds like a retro fit kit that has to have the body control module programmed by computer to turn on the spot light circuit. You can as you say connect spot lights to the main beam circuit, but be sure to use a relay and in line fuse so as not to cause melt down on the wiring with the extra current.

Do Wipac spots require re-programming? As that could be another option, save you a trip to the dealer. Something like this:

BMW Mini 5" Chrome Spot Lights and Brackets WIPAC on eBay, also Fog Spot Lights, Lights Lighting Accessories, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 30-Apr-08 16:42:40 BST)

I'm not an expert but I am sure some1 will clarify.

From what im aware of, the wipac spotlamps can be connected to the headlight relay so they can come on with the headlights.

It is only the dealer ones that need programming
