Offline | Hi, Just been to see the tinited windows on my dealers brand new demo MCS. Unfortunately the car is black with a black interior so it will look a lot darker compared to say a silver car with red - ooh.... what a nice combo that will be What you all think? |

Offline | Re: Re: Pics of Factory Tinted Window Option I agree but at least the rear windows don't have that nasty "van effect" where the tint doesn't go all the way to the edge of that black plastic surround they put on. When I order my S (V long time off) will opt for the factory tint and if I have to get the side windows tinted so be it, rather have it look right than a van. ![]() |

Offline | Sorry to disagree. It looks half-OK in that picture. But then when I think of Doms or Skinnys car it would look pants in comparison. Too breadvan! IMHO the tints need to be even on all the side windows. 2pDC There is just one moon and one golden sun; And a smile mean friendship to ev'ryone; Through the mountains divide, and the oceans are wide; It's a small world after all. |

Offline | I agree the front windows need doing more but the rear windows look ace compared to after market tint. If you look at the after market tint they have a line where the windows is untinted all the way around the edge. Its due to that plastic dotted plastic around the edge of the window. Ad I'd said I'd get rears factory tinted only and if that didn't include front window get them done after. ![]() |

Offline | Dunno what you guys are referring too with this gap around the outside of aftermarket tints - Aftermarket is v common in Oz & I've never seen this... the tint goes all the way to the edge & into the bit that's hidden below the door/roof line And why can't MINI tint the front windows anyway? Seems odd - Is it a misguided legal thing? Cooper S, Jet Black w/ white roof, silver 16" X-Lite wheels, DSC, MFSW, dark tinted windows ...It's here & I love it! |

Offline | I should have checked, but I expect its proper tinted glass. IMHO the issues that surround depend on why you would want the option. For me the main reasons are to keep the interior a bit cooler and to protect our little baby from sun. Secondary things are: - Blend the black roof to the car a bit more - Avoid insurance increase for mod'ing if I decide later - Be a bit cooler without the Drug Dealer look I ordered the same on my wifes X5, and must say that in the flesh, on either car, it doesn't look like "what about the fronts then" - it just kinda blends. |

Offline | Re: OK OK OK Here in the US, those states that allow tinting have strict regulations on how darkly tinted the front driver and passenger window may be. So it is very common for minivans (MPVs) and SUV's with factory tinting to look just like that MINI in the photos with darker tints on the rear windows and lighter on the fronts. Some people have tinting film applied to the front windows to try to match the factory rear windows. ------------ Lam, I've got a question for you: that's the dealer's demo car, so why have you gone to the trouble of hiding the reg plate???? + 2002 MINI Cooper S - Dark Silver / White roof, Sport, Premium, Lapis blue leather + 1965 Mini Traveller - Tartan Red / White roof, 1275, Cooper S discs, fully restored/renewed |

His back ones came that dark, & we did the aftermarket tint on the front windows to match. (simply cause it looked weird). My MINI's tint is all aftermarket with no gaps or lines on the back. Really makes a big difference keeping your car cool & saves your interior.(in very sunny climates, anyway). ![]() ![]() Chili Red Cooper IT'S ALL GOOD!!!!!! |

Offline | Thanks for the pic! I now know how my car will look when I pick it up next week. Another All black beast about to hit the roads. I still want to see the car before I collect it so I can get the front windows tinted as part of the PDI if I think it looks too van-like.
