Offline | £2k?! Jesus, thats expensive!! ![]() My house mate crashed his 1 series over the Christmas holidays (It was not his fault, but the other guy who caused the accident left the scene, meaning he was left to face the repair costs himself) ![]() Anyway, he had to have a new front 'M' bumper, headlamp, grille, radiator and numberplate housing. Whilst they were painting parts, he also asked them to remove a key mark from the rear door, which meant dissembling the door housing etc to respray it. The total cost for ALL of the work was not even £2k. Sounds stupidly expensive, so your right to shop around. Still its a joke that you are even in this situation to start with. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() James. |

| Looking 4 A New Car ;) | It's a huge quote - surely there's other places that deal with this type of thing all the time? Not read all the posts but are you covered by Insurance? If so, might be worth doing it. Sorry all the same mate. Chloe In A Very Good Mood! |

![]() MINI2 Slave | I'm livid! I just can't understand how these mindless social reprobates (finding it difficult to stay polite and not upset the swear filter) can live with themselves after ruining someone else's property. I was stopped at traffic lights on the way home and two people stopped and pointed with a look of horror on their face at the keyed side of my car. That's not the usual reaction I get from passers by. |

![]() You can put lipstick on.. | I don't see how it could be that much, £300 to £400 a panel should be about right for a top quality job including any matching with mating panels, but I'd say £800 would get you a decent job at a good quality independent sprayshop. Someone like Chipsaway would be unlikely to do spot repairs in the street to areas as big as that without dust free environments and ovens to bake it, but I've seen some good work. Pappi's S was worse than that and we got it fixed up for less than a grand. Bad that it happened and hope you get it sorted soon, Direct Line now cover vandalism as part of their normal policy and you don't lose your no claims, just have to pay the excess and give a crime number from the police, might be worth changing to them at some point. |

Offline | There are plenty of people in the yellow pages, that im sure are more than capable of doing it! ![]() Bodyshops Someone reversed into Dad's car when it was only a month old, chipped and scratched the front bumper. He took it to a smart repair place and they fixed it for £200. Looks like it did before it happened ![]() One of my customers at work has had the passenger door of one of our cars keyed, if it came back to us to fix we would be looking at charging about £250 + VAT. Also that Audi that decided to hit my courtesy car, that went to a smart repair place, and the scuffed rear quarter panel was repaired for under £150. Im sure you'll get it sorted soon Kev., and hopefully at not too much cost. (MINI was always bound to be expensive - I think i'd only go to them if the car was brand new) I know its easy to say, but try not to be to angry about it, it wont help you catch who did it afterall, they are just a bunch of scumbags who wander the streets doing this sort of thing. You just need to fcus on getting the car sorted out (unfortunatly in this case at your own cost) |

![]() MINI2 Slave | Just got a second quote from another bodyshop. £760 + VAT. Told my boss and he's just lectured me saying that I'd be wasting my money. He thinks ChipsAway is the route to go and I shouldn't be paying more than a few hundred pounds. He says he used them on his Aston Martin V8 Vantage and on his current Range Rover. Going to give them a call and see if they can quote me. I'm just so dishearted by the whole thing - want my MINI back to how it was. ![]() |

Online | I'm not so sure to be honest Kev... having seen them at the weekend, the scratches are quite deep - i think the only way it'll be perfect again is to have them sprayed properly. Worth seeing what chips away say though, don't cost anything to ask ![]() ![]() |

| MINI2 Regular | My daughter had her pepper white cabrio passenger side keyed not long after buying it new last year. She works away a lot and hadnt got round to getting it repaired, when she went to a local supermarket came out and someone had obviously parked too close to her then reversed off, scratching the drivers side door and A panel and pulling off the black wheel trim, leaving it covered in blue paint She was then in the same process as you, deciding the best place to go to get it repaired, getting quotes etc etc Few weeks down the line her b/f went to B & Q in it and when he came out 'something' had hit the front. From the damage caused we think it was probably a 4x4 with a spare on the back. It had smashed the reg plate, pushed the o/s fog light in, smashed the o/s zenon (new expensive facelift type), pushed the grille in which had thrown the bonnet all out of line on the o/s, dented the bonnet top and cracked the paintwork in several places all over! Needless to say no one left their details on either occassion ![]() She took it to the same place that fitted my side skirts as I recommended them to her and its there at this very moment, hopefully coming home tomorrow. She had to go through her insurance and because she had already told them about the 1st incident, this was classed as a 2nd claim,so 2 lots of excess costing her £600, tons of inconvenience and NON of it her fault. All this in just 10 months. These vandals and hopeless drivers need stringing up ![]() I'll let you know how it looks and if hes done a good job (which I'm sure he has) and I'll give you his details. He's in Shropshire, but thats not far from Nottingham if you want a good job doing at a good price. |
