Blue Cooper exhaust tip

Hi
i have a mini one 2002 and i have just had a standard mini one exhaust fitted, but the tip of it is very boring and bare. I know that you can buy cover off the mini website for £20 and there is two different diameter one for the mini one and the other for the cooper. Will the cooper size fit and does any one else have an alternative?
cheers

Some of the Main Dealers do have different versions of the exhaust ends (sorry no pics) and these are different to the ones fitted as standard that you can get.

Fitting the the larger diameter ends on can depend on your bodgin' skills, some-people can't fit them and others manage it , and once you've cut the rolled up end off (if applicable), there's no going back .

If you want a really good fit you can slide a small section of the larger diameter pipe on to the smaller diameter pipe (easy for me to say as I've got loads knocking about), making sure it's secure, and then fit the larger exhaust end trim.

There should be plenty of other alternatives out there .

Was there a reason you didn't just change to a COOPER exhaust when you was having it replaced? .

Mine's the one on the left.

Another exhaust tip: let the exhaust cool down before messing with it, , or you'll be able to detect which radiators are on when you get in at 100 paces .

You'll know what I mean if you've ever burnt yourself on a hot exhaust .

This is the type my BMW main dealer had for the MINI One, looks the same size as the Cooper version but push fits straight on the smaller diameter ONE exhaust once you have cut the flared tip off with a hacksaw or an angle grinder. I think it looks better than the Cooper coke can shape.

Yes! as the chrome end is a separate part, your supposed to change them over, the ONE exhaust ends normally have the rolled up lip on them, when not fitted with a chrome end, but it may not as it's a replacement .

The ONE exhaust has an approx 5cm diameter, the COOPER has an approx 5.5cm diameter, so if you don't have the rolled up end on just measure across with a ruler .

Try Halfords, local accessory shops & the MINI performance places, once you know the diameter .

No sorry! I meant sections of old pipe to slip over the end to get a better fit for the larger diameter chrome ends

I got one for my girlfriends cooper not long ago, best thing would be get the mini one type because you want it to fit snug. As was said on here there is a slight differance in cooper and ONE and with the fitting of it, it basicly slots over so you dont want any play in it otherwise it will rattle. Definetly recommended looks so much better.

Hi cheers for both reply's
yes it does have a curved tip on the end, so it means me grinding or sawing it off, but it seems that it is very close to the bumper.
will i have to take the bumper off?
cheers

The grinding will cause sparks so I would be in favour of sawing, this can depend on the tools you have though & whether you take the bumper of or not (It's always better to be safe than sorry ), people manage it without taking it off though, just be very careful .

As "lookalikeJCW" says it's better to get a proper fitting one, the slipping the piece of pipe over the thinner diameter exhaust pipe is what I do to get a snug fit, when people have come to me after buying the larger diameter chrome ends, and then can't get them to fit properly .
