Does anyone know where I can source stainless steel scuttle air vent surrounds at a reasonable price?

Note I just want the surrounds (one if possible) not a whole cover or anything.

I need one (passenger side) replacement for the original which flew off on the motorway a week ago.

I found these on the Mini Speed site:

but with VAT and shipping added the price is over £60 which personally I consider an absolute rip off.

So anyone know of a decently priced alternative?

Hello Roger,

I picked my stainless surrounds up new from a trader on eBay 4 years ago (!). I don't think they were particularly cheap then, I seems to remember it was about £45-50 for the pair.

Sorry, not a lot of help, but £60 is probably near the going rate I've not checked for them on eBay for ages, but it could still be worth a try....

I haven't been around for a bit as you may have noticed, the ski season has kept me busy, both here (instructing on dry) and at every available opportunity on snow (coming up for 5 weeks on snow in France, Austria, USA and Scotland). Am now depressed at the prospect of a snowless few months, although I'll probably spend the May bank holiday having a last wee slide on snow in Scotland. Anyway, that means my mind is turning to the summer MINI/Mini season to cheer me up, lol

Anyway, seems like it's not so expensive then in relative terms, crazy price though for a couple of pieces of shiny metal!

If anyone does know of a cheap source of these bits though please do let me know, I'd be very grateful

Thanks John, I couldn't see any either - can't decide whether to try to pick some up at a show or just get it done now and spend the money so the car looks tidier....
