Offline | Chip hole on bonnet, opportunity to stripe? Hi friends, Washing the car today I discovered THE BIGGEST ONE chip hole on the bonnet. Maybe have only 4-5 mm diameter, but its very visible because its in the front of the car, and the chip, shows the metal of the bonnet. The chip is in the way where stripes are installed, so Im thinking to buy some ones but dont know how they look on a Liquid Yellow / White Cooper ¿Recomendations? ¿Any pics of LY/W with bonnet stripes? Offline | I had a similar problem. What I did was buy some touch up paint and a product called "Langka" they are available via the Internet at langka.com. Essentially, paint applied at the factory has hardening components and adherence properties different from that which comes in the touch up bottles. Langka is a combo rubbing compound and paint thiner. So you apply a generious amount of touch up paint (too much actually so that it overfills the hole) and then wait for it to dry (about 90 minutes) then you remove the excess with Langka. The results I had are really very good. I'd suggest you do that before placing the bonnett strips. As paint has an asthetic appeal, but is primarily a corrosian prohibitive. Meaning, we don't want to hide a future rust spot under a piece of adhesive decor,.. ![]() |

Offline | I had a similar problem on my first Cooper within about the first week of getting it - I had one of these mobile repairers out called Chips Away, i'm sure you have them and they did an excellent job for about £40, you could hardly tell but i decided to fit stripes also to cover it up further. Hope this helps Alex West Cometh the Hour, Cometh the MINI |

Offline | Anyone used the MINI supplied chip repairer paint? I have a very small stone chip which I'm not sure if it's worth fixing or not. No doubt there will be more to follow. My car is metallic (P silver) and I know on my last metallic car it was very difficult to do a decent job. Red/Black R56 Cooper |

Offline | Thanks fot the ideas. Wednesdey go to dealer (again ) to fix my steering "click" problem. Must talk with my salesperson to ask how much are bonnet stripes, and how much is the MINI repaired paint. I have maybe more than 10 chips (8000 kms and 4 month old) 3 near the chrome headlight rims, lots of them on bonnet (includes the record chip caused by armaggedon stone ) and one in the front of roof.I think must to buy three or four MINI repaired paint ![]() Liquid Yellow MINI Cooper with white roof, Chilli Pack, Full black leather upgrade, 17" 8 S-spoke Rims with Runflats, DSC, Climate Control, Radio Boost with CD Charger, Factory Alarm... and all the switches |

Offline | I also have a small chip that I am going to repair as soon as the weather gets a little better. To repair a chip i usually clean the chipped area. Then I use a very small modeling brush and apply the smallest dot of paint in the chip. I give it the better part of a day to dry (and shrink). I repeat the process over a couple days as to not apply too much paint and have to sand or buff the area too much. I find that several minimal coats are better than one big drop. There are several how to's online. Read up and fix those chips. |

| Addict | Before i got my stripes put on, I discovered a large scratch, not a chip, on the bonnet. When the stripes went on it beautifully covered the scratch with no adverse effects. You might try filling the chip a bit then putting the stripe over it, as that way you might get the best of both worlds. Whatever. |
