Question Bonnet stripes fitting cost

A question to those that have the bonnet stripes fitted by the dealer.

Just had the 10k service on my MC and while in got them to put the bonnet stripes on for me. All went well for the service and the stripes were duly fitted, but was unsure as to cost's for the stripes. Service advisor has now sent me an invoive and to say I am shoked at the price of fitting the stripes is an under statment!

£65 Making a total bill of £100

I guess this is the standard rate for one hour's work, for something that could only have taken 15mins tops.

So the question is, before I complain, how much have other people been charged??? Suitable informed I shall make my way in to debate the issue.

Cheers for the info,

Mike

I'm pretty sure the flyer that came in from my dealer said £45 fitted. If that didn't include VAT it would come to about £52 I guess.

Sounds like you may have been stung

Always best to get a fixed price up front.

I'm sure your stripes look sweet though

I'm paying £50 inc VAT and fitting for bonnet stripes, BUT this is on a new S. I think I heard the factory fit them if specced with a new MINI, although I must admit I haven't had this verified.

Fitting should be:
Clean bonnet
Make up application solution (19 parts water, 1 part Fairy LiquidTM) into a spray bottle
Offer up vinyl decals for a test fit/dry run
Spray down bonnet with solution
Apply decals and wet them down with the solution
Move the decals to their final position on the bonnet
Squeegee the air bubbles and solution out
Pin-prick any unsqueegeeable bubbles

MINI should be left to stand a while. It wouldn't be a good idea to drive home immediately in the rain.

Workshop prices usually factor in things like the time to drive the car in/out the workshop. My dealer breaks their workshop prices down into smaller units - I think the charging unit is per 10 minutes.

Well, MPJ (thread starter) paid a little more than that, once you factor in the pound:dollar ratio.

Thank you all muchly for the feed back.

I am still yet to go and see the dealer about the price but at least now I really now the price is well OTT.

Have had call from them though about two outstanding recalls on my MC, anyone had any recalls recently and if so any ideas what they are for? I thought mine had been caught for anything due.

And yes the stripes do look sweet, although the fitting could probably have been better!!

Don't want to make all you guys even more sick but for what you are paying I got a UJ and bonnet/boot stripes. Did have to fit them myself though. The roof was fun but the bonnet and boot was really easy to do and I have never done it before.

Hey, you have to watch those things you never know what you might find. They where what Dr Who based the Tardis on. That's how come you can fit so much in them.

Seriously though if anyone feels up to the job try your local graphics shop. They can normaly cut most designs for you and they need not be that expensive. They might even be able to stick it on for you. If not try livery companys.

Cetainly the thin stripe that you can see on my avatar could be stuck on by most people. This is if you can be bothered with all the fuss that is.
