Unhappy Trouble fitting Mini Spares Pollen Filter Trims

I just tried to fit a pair of stainless steel trim rings for the "Pollen Filter" grilles (actually heater inlet grilles). Bought them from Mini Spares.

I'm afraid I have failed miserably!

The trims are supplied with a small bottle of black Silicone to fix them to the existing grilles. But don't come with any instructions.

First problem - the trims don't match the shape of the grilles - different curvature - so they rock from end to end.

Tried weighing-down the trims to press them on to the grilles - but found this very difficult to do all around evenly. Just couldn't get the trims to fit evenly so I could have a chance of getting the silicone to stick.

Second problem - the silicone takes about 6 hours to cure.

I had to give-up after 3 hours trying 'cos I had to use the car.

Has anyone else managed to fit these thins sucessfully?

Wink Good Idea

If I can work out how to ge the grilles off the car, I will try a bunch of clothes pegs all around .

Have to go buy some more glue first!
