Offline | I really don't think that it matters much cosmetically...but if you hit (tap as in fender bender) something there will be alot more damage to the grille, and possibly the intercooler(MCS), etc....IMHO. Nice photoshop btw... ![]() |

Offline | Yes, you are. ![]() thepilo removed the inch or so the front bumper extends forward in the second image. As COOPERation indicates, that's there to handle small bumps (by law, the bumpers of US/Canada market MINIs must be able to withstand an impact of 2.5 mph to the front or rear bumpers with no damage) + 2002 MINI Cooper S - Dark Silver / White roof, Sport, Premium, Lapis blue leather + 1965 Mini Traveller - Tartan Red / White roof, 1275, Cooper S discs, fully restored/renewed Last edited by BruceK : Nov 26th, 2002 at 04:58 PM. |

Offline | Flattened bumper Speaking of flattened fronts, did anyone hear about the program on TV last night in the US (12/3) looking at cars that wouldn't pass the 5mph front/rear impact test? I didn't see it, but a friend said the MINI was one of the main subjects. I don't know what the legal standard in the US is right now, but I pointed out that my window sticker specified that the bumpers were designed to the 2.5mph standard. Anyway, they apparently pointed out that the amazingly quick steering of the MINI would probably lessen the chances of having to depend on the 2.5 or 5 mph bumper designs. MINImeat MINImeat B/W MCS |

Offline | Been thinking about it, and there is probably a reason that it can't go back that little bit, but I bet that a hood could be made that would extend a bit giving it that flattened front look? Hmm.. I wonder.. |
