I have attached a picture of my car and would be most pleased if people could give there view on this. Any views will be greatfully recieved Thanks

I think your car looks fine & dandy as it is. Not particularly a fan of tints myself especially if they're too dark.

Looks great as it is. Wouldn't bother with tints unless you're a celeb

Tim, if you get tints you should get black bonnet stripes on your MINI as it would be more red/black then

the MINI has gone...

Talking To tint or not to tint that is the question

Thanks eveyone for all our replys. It looks like most people think I should have it done but don't go too mad. What I think I will is go over to my mates car company and see what he has got. I will let you all know how I get on.

Mini Cruiser if you don't mind me asking how much did yours cost?

Smiffy yes that is my company New Megane in the background. I think its great (not as good as the Mini though!!)

I agree with monsta, not with the white stripes.

I nearly had it done, then realised that it would actually drastically alter the "image" of the car.

All my friends expressed shock at the mere suggestion of tinting the windows, and said I was about 12 years too old for that (I'm 30) and the car wasn't a Corsa/Nova/Civic...

Have a look at the people with tints in their car (if you can see in) and see what they mean...

Tim,
Just my 2ps worth, I'd take a look at Neils car - I think it looks excellent with the tints. Not sure how it'd work with the red paint though!
P.S I've got a Vel Satis on loan from Renault at the moment - different!!!???

All the best.

I love all the interesting replies on this Thread. However, it appears that two of the main reasons for getting tinted windows, other than for appearance are totally lost here!

I am going to have mine tinted very soon. I live in California. The sun gets hot. I have a Profile Black leather interior.

Window tinting will do 3 things for me.

1. Preserve the Leather much better. The sun may be nice on the cows and bulls, but once their skin covers my car seats, the sun ages and cracks the leather. The Tinting will greatly reduce this problem.

2. Keep the interior cooler in the summer. Once I had my Volvo windows tinted, I found I needed the Climate Control set at a warmer temperature in the summer. Made a great difference.

3. The Useless Visors for morning & afternoon driving: I drive across a 9 mile bridge to & from work every day. The sun is usually in the position that burns a hole in the side of my head, and the visors are too short to do anything about it. I usually catch a hankerchief in the window to block this sun, but that is a tacky solution.

Tinting the Driver & Passenger windows in California is not legal, but many people seem to do this. I will attempt to compromise the law and have a 4 inch strip across the top of the driver & passenger window in a DARK tint (to match the rear and back windows) instead. This should help with the blinding sun for me for my commutes.

All functional things for the car. Albiet, my Cooper is BRG, so it is dark to start out with, so the dark windows will not look strange in the first place.

I like the slightly silver tint, it looks good with the chrome. not the cheap kind, but the more expensive tint jobs with a slight metallic looks rad. The also have the slight silver tint which is almost perfectly clear. Doesn't most glass in cars come with a uv block built in? I use uv glass all the time to frame art in. Seems to me that'd incorporate that into the automotive industry. I like my car without tint, however now I'm thinking about it... hmm...

Silver much chrome black top and mirrors.

Tint it. You've seen my car, looks fantastic. I can give you the number of a bloke in Chelmsford who did mine for £250 all in.

Over here we dont have enough sunshine to warrent tints for interior preservation reasons, it just looks great especially on a black car.

One point though. Essex police and probably others are trialling (so i'm told) roadside light meters (probably southend police!) that can test light penetration. I'm not entirely sure how dark you can go on the fronts but i think it's about 35%.
