Smile Fitted my 'mini spares' chrome pollen vent trims

Yep, fitted them the other day and i'm happy with the result.

Heres how 'I' did it:-

Step 1- I popped out my vents from underneath as i thought this would make it easier.I did this by unclipping the three clips (front edge)on my vents, accessing from under my bonnet.

Then i found the chrome trims needed carefully shaping to make them a snug fit before fitting

Now the chrome trims were ready to apply to the vents, but a small problem arised!.I found that the little black bottle of silicone supplied could not be squeezed through the nozzle as the top part of it had gone hard. So, i resorted to
chopping off the bottle top and applying it with a small screwdriver.

After applying the silicone i now placed on the trims, and taped them up with 2" masking tape.
The silicone needs 12 hours+ to set so i put them in the airing cupboard over night.

Cool!

I don't understand the pollen reference though?

On a related note - one of my vents has suffered from the black filter stuff just falling to bits - theres not much left! Has this happened to anyone else? I think the Jet Wash may have something to do with it, but not sure.

Glad you all like em and my instructions

I was debating whether to call them 'pollen filters'when putting them up on here as i know different people on this site call them different names!,cowls etc.... but anyway you all know what they are.I decided to put my step by step guide up to help others as i have been by faq's on this site a lot!!.
Relating to your black filter stuff falling to bits! yeah i did notice mine falling apart a bit whilst fitting me chrome surrounds.they are very delicate and i think it is possibly a common fault with everybody?Keep that jet wash away from em mate! Hey a new idea just sprung to mind, how about mounting some chrome mesh behind them as seen below cooper bumpers??
.

So, how does one go about putting this step by step into FAQ??

Tim.

P.s Deej matey, the poor unfortunate *** which had to stand for 12 hours whilst drying and had to take photo's was my dad heehee .

I'm nit-picking here but I'm sure they're not the pollen filters. They're much finer filter mesh and are located somewhere inside the ventilation system...

My black stuff fell apart as well but I think it was due to crow damage. The dealer has offered to replace them under warrenty as long as I forget to tell them about the crows!. Obviously, I'm not the only person to have them replaced it seems.

I have a little hole in the black mesh... Have you got any ideas for mesh replacement?? Standard ones are too thin and fall apart easily!
Thanks!
