No, the very best shade of green is the classic Mini almond green (with a white roof, naturally). But having driven that for the last 6 years, it's time for a change.

Interestingly, BRG seems to have come in several different shades during the 50s and 60s, depending upon which team was using it.

I agree that curent BRGs (all metallic) are too dark - seems that when the colour reappeared in the manufacturuers' paint shops in the late 80's, they'd forgotten what the original was really like. They are also _way_ too common, being offered by just about every car manufacturer right now.

Ordered my "S" August '01. Arrived July '02. EB with white roof, wheels and stripes, Chili pack, DSC and climate control. Hate those 17" runflats though.

Can now be seen all over the West Midlands, as a blue blur passing everything at speed

I did a little research on the use of BRG in the British automobile industry.I looked at BRG used by Jaguar,MG,Triumph, and Aston Martin. It turns out that the colour might have been called BRG,but each manufacturer had a different shade of it.MG used a shade called British Racing Green(BMC/BL colour code GH 25)for 1962-63.In later 1963 until 1970 the colour was called Dark British Racing Green(BMC/BL colour code GN29).In 1970 the colour was re-issued now called New Racing Green(BMC/BL colour code BLVC 25).This lasted until 1971.No wonder no one knows what BRG really looks like. And you wondered why the British automobile industry fell apart.A few things were never changed over the years. The colour was never a metallic.Yellow was used to warm it up,never black. It's the yellow that give the car that bright look in the sunshine. It appears that you can still get any shade of BRG,from any British make to this day.I guess I answered my own question about "to be or not be BRG"

That has to be the most succinct, and concise answer to why we All seem to have different memories and opinions on what a "true" BRG is. Seems, that like a lot of things, it meant different things to different companies at different times.

The pics of the BRG cars I've seen make it look very dark - will have to see one in the "flesh" before I order. (I have a Maisto die-cast model in the BRG/white combo)

My only concern about a dark color car is - will the little old blue-haired ladies in their Buicks see me???

A yellow/white Cooper like the one tested in Road and Track would solve that problem, I guess.

Driving any color MINI Cooper you'll be treating Buicks as mobile chicanes and blasting around them like they are standing still - who cares if they see you?

I know this from driving classic Minis - you're driving habits will quickly change to take advantage of the car's wonderful handling capabilities and maneuverabilities. You will grin all the time and scare your passengers!
