There are plenty of cars with the anchor points in the door and window frames. I used to have a 3dr Punto in the UK wih the mounting points hidden behind the door and window seal rubber. Of course, the rear windows on that tilted out....

IF they had done it all at the factory properly - they should have been able to design something that offered flush fitting points - this is where I think the design is flawed.

Either that or give me a set of permanent front to rear roof rails which can be put on and left, then you attach a cross brace when you need to carry a load.
