Question Is this true?

I just went back to the dealer today for the alarm that was installed 2 days ago. I found out that when I lock/unlock/lock/unlock the door for couple time, then I can not lock my door again for a minute, it will beep when I press the lock key. The "technician" said when you lock/unlock/lock/unlock 3 times in a row, the system will lock down for a minute. My question is "Is that true?" Does anyone have the factory alarm? Can anyone try that and let me know does that happen to yours?

All you need to do is lock/unlock/lock/unlock/lock/unlock/lock/unlock/ then you should not able to lock and only hear beep sound. I really appreciate for all your help. Thanks

It seem the "technician" just too lazy to fix that for me, first he said some door is not close all the way, then he said it's micro senor too sensitive, it thought some door is not close even is close, then I slam all the door, and it still happen, then he said it's because the system will lock down like this for a minute, if you lock/unlock 3 times in a row.

I just want to know the true!!! PLEASE HELP Thanks

** I should post this thread under ICE, but I can not delete it. But if you can help, please rply it too. Thanks

Mine does this. If you go mad with several locks and unlocks, it just stops.

Wait a bit and it's OK.

This might seem a silly question but......

why would you ever need/want to lock/unlock/lock/unlock/lock/unlock/lock/unlock/ your car?

The reason I found out this was the first day I got alarm install, I also have asked the dealer to fix my car for couple things, but they didn't fix it and they blame on my aero kit installation by other MINI dealer, also I found out the technician just put some tape on the water hose b/c it was kinked, instead of replace a new water hose!! For more info please click here

I want to make sure they install my alarm correctly. So I try to lock/unlock couple times, then I got the problem.

its prolly to stop you burning the mechanism out. I love showing off the light lighting up each time it unlocks and dimming when i lock it. hehe, so its quite possible for someone to do that...

Fair enough

As for a dealer blaming the Aero kit installation for other problems? I can't see how installing an aero kit is that difficult, in fact I know its not! So either the dealer who fitted it are a real bunch of half wits or the dealer commenting on them is taking the michael to say the least. The only thing involved in installing an Aero kit is undoing a few screws and bolts and unclipping a few lights, and the reversing the process.

That's what my dealer and I said!!!! But the technician insist the aero kit cause the problem, anyway after I talk to the GM/Service Manager/Customer Relation Manager, they agree to take a look again, at the end they fix it at good will. So I think it's ok now, but I still think the technician was just lazy to fix my car!!!!

Hi

It's in the owners manual, if you press the unlock on the key several times it initialises the key? I did this by mistake, I thought the battery needed replacing, but later it was working fine!

NOTE:
This has *nothing* to do with the alarm ... the body control module has this built in protection "to avoid overloading the motors are blocked out after 10 operations in 1 minute. The motors will be placed in the unlock state for approximately 1 minute"
(from "MINI Complete Vehicle")
