Offline | S gas cap fitted to PW/B today Greetings. I fitted a MCS gas cap to my PW/B cooper today. My dealer in Philadelphia wanted $500 to do this install. Having some common sense about me I decided that there was no way that I was going to pay them that kind of cash. I ordered the complete kit from RSpeed ($92.50 including shipping) and then had a body shop (that the dealer uses anyway) to paint and clearcoat the trim piece ($65.07). Since the weather was nice today I took advantage of it and decided to go for it. I had read the directions that came with the kit (from RSpeed) about 6 times and I was confident that I can handle this. Suddenly it dawned on me that I had leant out my metric sockets/wrenches so I was forced to go about this without having to remove the tire from the driver's rear. Simply followed the directions (with the exception of not removing the tire to loosen the filler neck) and in 37 minutes I was all finished. Looks fantastic. Really adds something to the car. Thoughts on the process. Definitly need WD-40. Although it helped a lot you still had to pull like hell. Yes, it would of been easier if you took off the tire and loosened the filler neck but it is do-able without. Total cost: around $150 dollars and 30 - 45 minutes of my time (plus time to drop off/pick up the trim piece that was painted). Remember the Dealer wanted $500!
