Offline | Bumper Inserts Hello -- This is my first post. I am in the process of ordering my Mini Cooper. The body color is pure silver with a black top. I need some advice regarding the bumper inserts, black, chrome or silver? Right now I am leaning towards the black bumper inserts, because I think they look nice and may be less prone to showing damage than the chrome or body colored ones. Any thoughts or comments will be most appreciated. Thanks |

Offline | I just saw a brand new red Mini with the chrome bumper inserts. The back chrome bumper already had several unsightly dings and scratches. The chrome looked more like chrome-plated plastic than actual metal. I am now leaning towards the black bumper inserts. |

Offline | It is chromed plastic! In any case, keep in mind they're reasonably cheap to replace, if you get black or chrome, body coloured (I think) needs repainting, but otherwise they're not much over $100 to get the parts and just replace them yourself if they get all scratched up. Also, mine never got dinged, I think it has a lot to do with people who braille park if you live in a city, I rarely parallel park. (Even though I live in a big city) Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball. |

Offline | One of the great things about the cooper as opposed to the S is that it comes with crome on the radiator grill which polishes up a treat and looks great even though it might not be the best quality. I have a slight chip to one of the front bumper inserts due to stone damage but when polished you simply don't see it, and worst case scenario I will buy another. Go Chrome !! Unless u want black !! or Silver !! ![]() CHILLI RED, CHILLI PACK, MAGNEX & PIPERCROSS BAGS OF FUN gone now but not forgotten, an s next time ? |

Offline | Just called in to my local dealer. in the showroom was a white cooper with black roof, mirrors, bonnet/hood stripe and BLACK bumper inserts. Don't like white as a colour but in the showroom as all white cars it looked great. The black inserts finished the car off, with the black wheel arches and bumper cills also. Would guess black inserts would look OK on silver also. The latest UK price list dated May 2003 lists bumper inserts in black on the One and Cooper for 80 of the english pounds. ![]() |

Offline | The black inserts look very nice with silver. They cost the same as the chrome ($120). I think that the black inserts will hold up a little better than the chrome ones, which are just chrome plated plastic and show every scratch and ding. |

Offline | Just to quantify your worries, my car is 15 months old has covered 15500 miles the bumper inserts have only 1-2 blemishes. In reality they still look perfect, really, trust me. I would make your decision based on which colour/ finish you prefer not on when you feel the inserts may need replacing. This car does not/ has not yet fallen to pieces ! ![]() CHILLI RED, CHILLI PACK, MAGNEX & PIPERCROSS BAGS OF FUN gone now but not forgotten, an s next time ? |

Offline | My Cooper is Pepper White body with a Black roof. I did not have chrome inserts preferring body colour. If I could have got the boot handle in black I would have. Not so sure about black inserts. I think they would have spoilt the look. (How do I get a picture of my car onto the site?) Barry |
