Question headlamp grilles

I've posted this question before in the general discussion and even followed the threads in the replys I received, but still haven't found what I'm looking for.......so...again, Does anyone in this world know where I may find chrome wire mesh headlamp grilles for my '03 Cooper? I've seen pics of them in Eurocar Magazine on VW's and old Bentleys and I figure someone, somewhere must have them or can make them for the Mini????
Thanks for any and all help.

Why would you want them on the MINI?!? i think their horrible personally!

in answer to your question though im not sure, but i can give you a solution to the problem - dont bother!

Spend your money on a decal for the roof instead

A LOT of classic cars have the same headlights and indicator lights as the Mini's had. Not like now... back in them days people had to make do with what they could get their hands on.... (old Grandad's voice applied).

Geez.... doesn't anyone know old cars? (it helps to be older... )

It's a Porsche 356.

(This picture is a later model 356C, so the grille and indicator style are slightly different, but you can see the the photo at top of the thread is a Porsche 356.)

Forgive me!

I LOVE the 356, one of my all time favourites (in appearance)....

I'm just not an expert on it.

Mmmmmmmm.

the title says Culture, and I'm glad everyone finally figured out that it is a Porsche but it still doesn't help with what I'm looking for. I already have the headlamp protectors and a roof decal and I quess beauty is in the eye of the beholder because I like the grilles and think they would look great on my MC. Now can everyone put their heads together like you did figureing out what kind of car that was and help me find what I'm looking for?
thanxs.........

As far as I know these types of pseudo-rally wire mesh headlight covers have long been out of production. In the late 1960s the were replaced by soft clear plastic headlight cover that kind of formed a protective bubble over the headlight, protecting it from rock strikes.

And excluding a couple of notable cars (the classic Mini and the CJ Jeep, for example) it's been more than 20 years since new cars were built which shared the same universal 7 inch round headlamp. Instead, since the early 1980s (and before) headlamps have become unique to each vehicle, styled to fit only a particular car.

So universal retro-style wire mesh headlight covers would need to be made to fit only a particular model car such as the MINI. And a MINI headlight cover wouldn't fit a New Beetle, or a Porsche. I don't think there is enough of a MINI market for a manufacturer to commit to production. Just my thoughts....

I love the look of the mesh protection. I found a sketch of the new MINI that achieves the look by using a metal bar protector:

Cheers!!!

I think the mesh light covers look cool. MG Mitten used to sell a "universal" 7" cover, in the '70's, and I really wanted them on my '67 Spitfire. But, for what sealed beam lights cost, it wasn't worth it. I might consider them for my MINI.
The DOT-specified sealed beam lights finally died a much-deserved death for the '87 model year.

Sadly, you'll probably find out the only way to get the screens you want is to have some fabricated. I'm sure a competent welder could do so. However, you'll probably find the cost (especially if you have them chromed) to be prohibitive. Good luck on the search!
