Chrom-Design mesh radiator grille

Hi,

Ha anyone seen / fitted the Chrom-Design stainless steel mesh replacement upper radiator grille?

If so how does it look - any pics?

Thanks

Very tempted to order a set myself. I have ordered a set of the 'Air Vent' Grilles.

The Radiator Grilles are item no. EP21100P from Chrom Design. http://www.chromdesign.de/eframe.htm

Please post some pics when you get yours.

I have got the air vent grilles and I think they will look good. They have no foam filter though so you can see the wiper mechanism etc. rather clearly, so I am thinking of painting it (the wiper mechanism) black. This will need to be done before fitting because, unlike the factory grilles, they use bending metal tabs to secure them in place and once fitted I suspect they are there for good!

The radiator grilles are for the top grille and the one at the bottom of the bumper. They do not (yet?) offer a grille to replace the lower half of the radiator grille proper (i.e. the one at the top of the bumper).

From the chromdesign website it's easy to see what these grilles look like a sitting on a table, but impossible to see how they look actually installed on a MINI!

Thanks for the photo - it helps to see them on the car! Your photo shows a grille fitted at the top of the bumper (the lower "half" of the radiator grille) did this come from Chrom design?

Thanks

CTD Germany,

I failed to open the photo from your links (both) for many times. Could you post them here?

Thanks.

Hi,

I have taken the plunge and I think it looks rather good - any views?

It needed a certain amount of "addressing" to get it to fit properly but whole job done in under an hour.

Matching lower grille follows shortly!

I think it looks awesome. I definitely view it as a great add-on. I am sure I will be looking for one of these for my car soon.

Look cool! Does the red one have a John Cooper sig on the grille? I like the look of the yellow one better with the chrome rimming around it. Was that a custom job?

I think if you look closely at the Yellow one, the guy in the photo is just holding the grille in place in front of an OEM grille - hence the chrome rim....

Having thought further about what Silentrage said, I came to the view that he was right and it might look better with the chrome surround. So....out with the old grille, pinged off the chrome surround and then a happy hour with the grinding wheel etc and the result is this. What do you think?

For me, this one looks better. BTW when will you install the lower part of the grill? Waiting for your complete ones.

I sent an e-mail to chrom design and I was told that this grill is only for cooper and not for S. Is this true?
Anyone know what's the difference between Cooper and S hood? It looks the same to me.
