Offline | I always thought it'd be more amusing to put neon on a Neon. Besides, they you don't turn your MINI into something rather demented, there's plenty of nice modifications (tailights and such) that won't look like a rice rocket, but will still be unique, I think you'll get a pretty good agreement that people here aren't fond of neon and huge wings and 5" exhausts etc. And oh, the color of your car is Indi, there's no e. Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball. |

Offline | Hey i like my 5" exhaust. But to me like many other Rice means adding things to a car to make it appear to beable to go faster but truely does nothing at all. example. Putting Cooper S sidemarkers on a Cooper. or a full blown body kit and wing on a Stock civic ex in need of a serious overhaul on the 92hp motor (hp as of current condiditon.) Therefore Neon to me is not rice. Its more of "Hey look at me i have more money than i know what to do with. And why yes I want to cops to pull me every chance they get to give me a ticket" Second half has to do with the local cops in my area. Where i was ticketed for having the underbody neons on while sitting in a Parking lot with the car turned off. This was on a 1991 White camero lowered with a modded 350 LT1 engine. The neons gave the whole car that BLACK light effect at night. Offline | Neon fits types of cars. It'll work on a ricer, a lowrider or a showcar. It works because it goes with the cars' heritage and style or, in the case of the showcar, with the cars' ultimate goal(showing the car off on display). Neon does not work on a Mini. It takes the car away from it's heritage and ideology and perverts it into something it's not. The only exception I could see here, would be the showcar approach. It's kind of like the muscle car thing, way back when, of running smaller rims in the front than in the back. On a '69 Hemi'Cuda it looks fine....on a Mini it would look silly. I know there's folks out there who agree as well as ones that don't. I'm not trying to start something. I just wanted to put my view on the matter out there for public record. -- '03 S B/W |

Offline | There's a lot of opinions about the "heritage" of the car, because there is not a single one! The one underlying theme that makes a MINI a MINI is the ability to make it an extension of your personality and give the car character. Even the marketing material recognizes this! Let's face it, MINIs are begging to be personalized. If neon adds to your MINI's character--go for it. I choose to embrace parts of the MINIs various heritage's--I chose the white top for its rally roots and to do everything I could to accentuate that contrast. Make your MINI yours and motor! |

Offline | I'd like to hook a pair up under the door sills so that they turn on and off with the interior light (Like when you open and close the door). Anyone have an idea where to splice in to the wiring? Pepper White / Red Interior / Red Stripes / CVTTalk is cheap 'cause supply exceeds demand. |

Offline | Kj.. for here in the states we would just check the Yellow pages under Airbrush artist. Most Custom shop also know of someone who does it. Alone with any Harley Davidson custom shop. Bikes are done more often than Cars. Dont know if this helps across the pond or not. but its places to look. 02 MCS DS/W (Totaled November 02 on Fall Folage Run) 03 MCS DS/W (See my MINI Profie for extensive list of mods) |

I'm getting under body neons and I dont care what people think, its my car. Oh and I have the 5" exhaust, the magnaflow! |

Offline | The whole point of the thread was people's opinions. None of us are going to stand in the way of what you do with your car, but I'm just stating what the vast majority on here think. Most of the crowd tends to stick more with the style (BMW heritage?) of not flashy visual modifications and more with actual go-fast stuff, that doesn't mean you can't go for a show car look. The crowd you hang out with may be quite impressed with what you do. I think the color of your car actually determines how the clear tails look, but I'm more fond of black ones in any case, so I guess I agree with you there. Random thought: I saw a civic at a parking lot today with a wing, 4" exhaust, altezzas and steel 14" black wheels without wheel covers. I guess because the car was black (except for the white braille-parking scrape on the bumper), they thought it'd fit in. Or maybe they expect snow in OH in June? Magic 8-ball was correct. Offline | stryder on your Random thought. around here with the hondas people are going for the JDM /spoon look which mead BLACK rims the guys are removing the wheel covers to give it the JDM look with out having to buy Black rims. As for Neon's on a Mini im all for it. As for my comment about being More money than i know to do with. Show cars normaly are called Trailer Queens(most not all) Have little to no practical use.(advertizing aside). IMO Mini's are to be driven. Neon underbody kits (unless in fast and furious) Limits the type of driving you can do. just because most are afraid of breaking the Neon lights. The 98 Civic in my sig. is one of those soon to be Trailer Queens. Yes i still drive it every now and then. Currently im redoing the interior. Adding custom lights molding, subfloor, water wall, holders for amps, speaker, Nos bottles, compressors, air tanks, tv's and a real Cup holder. Did i mention i have an underbody Neon kit as well =) For now im designing a drop-in, clip on board for the back of the mini to allow an air mattress to be laid down in the back along with a tent like awneing simular to the aztec to make it easier to sleep in the mini for those long trips where i just get to tired to continue to drive and need to take a quick nap at a rest stop before continuing.
