Offline | Rear Wiper Has anyone removed their rear window wiper? I have never liked the looks of a wiper on the back window of any car and don't plan to leave the one on my MCS. I don't drive dirt roads and in Florida, it's not going to get soo dirty that I can't see out. But then with six speeds forward and only one for going backwards, why would I care to see out the back? Catch me if you can! ![]() |

Offline | You might want to re-think this idea -- I use my rear wiper the most when there's water on the roads -- the aerodynamics of the car are such that everything gets picked up off the road and thrown onto the back window. Doesn't have to actually be raining -- just water on the road. Chip H. ex-MINI Cooper S owner and all around good-guy |

Offline | Haven't done it but I want to for a truly twisted reason. Though it would be fun to put a giant key on the back. That way you could turn on the rear wiper while driving down the road and look like you were driving a wind up tin toy ![]() 2004 Winning Blue Mazda RX-8 |

| 1.6 Litres of fury!!!! | I wouldn't advise you do that as the rear window gets filthy. Because the wheels are so close to the corner of the car everything gets thown from the rear tires and mucks up the rear window pretty fast, especially when you drive in the rain. On a side note...Has anyone seen a Cooper/S driving down the highway when the roads are wet. It shoots a rooster tail of water from the rear wheels about 50 feet behind the car. I know it much annoy the mess out of drivers behind me! Jason 2002 Dark Silver Cooper S w/ white roof. SOLD |

Offline | Humm, and I was thinking of mounting one of those plastic hands that looks like it waving to you, except cut off all the fingers except the middle one. Then when I'd turn on the rear wiper, the hand would convey my feelings about the person following me. |

Offline | Ahh... an uninitiated optimist. You don't have a MINI yet, do you? Who said anything about dirt roads? It is very likely you will not believe how completely filthy the entire back of a MINI gets from just a short drive in the rain on paved roads. Not only is a rear wiper a real necessity, the engineers at MINI really should think about adding some kind of little wipers or jet spray to clean the rear taillights! They get as filthy as the rear window! Offline | Well, up north where there was real dirt, this might be a problem, but here in the state of sand, getting your car dirty while driving in the rain is not as big a problem as you might think. But, since it's just starting the rainy season here, I'm sure I'll find out how bad a problem it is in a short period of time. Only one more week I'm told and the fun begins! |

| MINI2 Regular | Well, living in dirt free Florida is nice, but every last bit of soot, carbon etc from the road will end up right on the rear of your MINI. I've lived in FLA as well and if there was ever a car/state combo that needs the rear wipers, it's the MINI in Gatorland! ![]() |

Offline | This isn't entirely relevant, but gives you and idea of how much crud collects on the back. I drove from Pittsburgh to Cleveland in a moderate snow storm it probably snowed an inch or two in the 3 1/2 hours it took to get home (usually takes 2 1/2) In any event, when I stopped to get gas, there was a 1" thick blanket of dirty icy snow stuck to the entire back of the car, except for the wiper. The front had a similar collection, while the sides were perfectly clear. From my time in Florida, raining in the morning's pretty common, I'd hate to deal with it without the wiper, but even still, you do plan on going places with the car don't you? If you motor to anywhere else, you'll kick yourself pretty hard if you can't see anything out the back window. Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball. |

Offline | We've owned a few small hatchbacks before the MINI, and the MINI gets dirt and water all over its rear end (including the screen) like no other car! I would personally see how you cope with a wet and dirty rear view (that you cant see out of) when it rains BEFORE doing anything you cant reverse.... But that's just me. There aint no party like my nana's tea party |

| MINI2 Master | I remember when I was in Japan, they had covers for the wiper motors. Some people had little critters or Pokemon. They would leave the rear wiper on while they crused. I even saw one with a chrome little boy that "squirted" when you hit the washer button! ![]() |
