Pictures of manufacturers roof rack please!

Dear all,

Finalising spec over the next two weeks and umming & aahing re going for the MINI roof rack or not. I looked at the long thread but couldn't find that many actual pictures of Coopers with roof racks.

Anyone got a few tucked away?

Gracias,

Very nice Mark - top colour choice there!

I assume that as you're "sunroof-less" there's no noise problems etc for you?

And do you just leave it on all the time?

There is some wind noise at high spped, only to be expected rearly
I generally leave it off, only putting it on when needed (approx 5 min on my own)
My only wish is for some tie-down points at each end, to stop the load sliding from side to side

Toby,

You can check out my gallery. Some pics there of the Aux input cable and my roof rack.

Honestly, if minifini were to actually sell the rack they propose, I would go with them. But I have the factory rack and like it. I bought a Thule bike mount and love that too.

Regards,

Dave

Gotten anything useful from MINI2? How about giving a little something back?

Basically with the rack off you have 4 little roof-coloured -as long as its black or white anyway - caps

As you see - theyr hardly visable in photos:

Thumbs up factory rack and Thule

Here is a photo of my mini with the factory rack and the thule bike rack. It took some modifications for the bike rack attachment. Let me know if you want to know more. I love the setup. It looks strictly factory installed and is SOLID.

hello all,
mont blanc do a roof rack which I have had on my MCS for 2-3 months, I have attached two thule bike carriers. I have a bike shop and so this has had quite a few different bikes on and it is no problem. Best bit is you don't need to drill 8 holes in the roof

Roof rack photos

Toby,

Go to my gallery and there are several photos.

I find the MINI rack to be very solid and noise free as long as you have something mounted on the cross bars ie: the bicycle carriers or cargo box. Without something mounted there is some wind noise and vibration, not nearly as bad as some other racks that I have owned in the past. You can hear it in the car but you do not have to speak any louder or turn up the stereo to block it out.

The MINI rack is very easy to put on and take off. The bicycle carrier is very solid and easy to use. The bike frame is surrounded by steel and lockable so it is secure.

I'll try and post a picture with a bike mounted soon.

New rack photos

Check out my gallery. I have posted some new photos of a bicycle in the rack and a new cargo box I just purchased.

It fitted easily and rides quietly. Seems well made and wasn't too much of a pain in the @ss to assemble.

Green Cooper Factory rack with bike and Burley trailer

I know it's too late to affect Toby's ordering decision, but I couldn't figure out a better thread to post this message in.

I actually like the MINI factory rack. Attached is a pic of my MINI ready to go, with my bike and a Burley trailer (to carry my 4-year old son while I ride) on the roof rack.

Can someone take an up close picture of the caps that cover the roof when the rack is not in use? I'm not too crazy about the idea of having to drill holes in my roof!

thule attachment with MINI rack

I found that you can easily use many Thule attachments with your MINI roof rack. I bought a VW fit kit for $9 and it came with everything you would need to attach a Thule bike or ski rack to you factory MINI roof rack.

Thanks to the kind people at Sport Rack.

Atomic: Are you looking for pics of just the caps... caps on the roof... frankenstein bolts?
I can take closeup pics of whatever you'd like...

dreamin: Yes, I'm looking for pictures of what the caps looks like on the roof without the rack in place. I'd like to see how intrusive they are.

Howdy! Looking for a bike rack for my mc that will not mean holes in the roof and saw your post. Which model of mont blanc's did you get? (I'm cruising their site)
thanks!
