Angry Lockable valve caps

Hi There

We have recently had all of our valve caps stolen from our MCS, we have gone to Motorworld and brought a new basic set for £5.99 but we are worried they will go again.

Does anyone knoe if you can get lockable ones for the MCS and if so how much they are??

Many thanks

Lockable valve caps

Sorry to hear about your valve caps
This is a common problem here as well (and I suspect country wide) After fitting four sets of various alloy caps, I've now gone back to black plastic. The kids don't seem to want these.
A locking system would be good, but I don't think they are available

United-Kingdom Valve CAPS

HI..

Sorry to hear a thing happened to you.. i have had my caps stolen a few times.. recently, i have brought a set of steel caps that have tiny screws that locks the valve caps and the valve together.. but the thing is that the design of the caps are not spanner proof, so they have manage to get them off ( they've scratched my 17's S wheels, TRAMPS!! )

Now, i have brought another set of those caps, but from the guys in Motorworld, i have applied some glue which strengthen the grip between the valve and the caps. Now, problems of Valve capping is gone for me. OHHH!! and the Caps is not hard to unscrew...

GOOD LUCK...
and Hope this will help..

There's a company here in the U.S. that has theft-resistant caps...I ordered some before my MCS arrived, just in case. I was finally forced to actually put them on about 2 weeks ago ...at least they left me one of my original valve caps as a souvenir. So far the anti-theft ones have worked well and look good too (I got the all-metal, non-painted).

I had my valve caps stolen after about 2 weeks of owning my MCS. The anoying thing is they took 2 on 1 night then th other 2 the following night. Just get a set of plastic caps from Halfords like me (5 for £1.19). I was a bit ****ed off but having spoke to the guy with a W plate 911 Targa on my street about how many sets he put on his car before opting for plastic caps I feel ok.

Had the same trouble on my girlfriends Cooper. Got some new ones, nipped them up with some pliers (BE CAREFUL!), then a light smear of grease. Done same to my Cooper S, never had a problem since.

EB/W Cooper S, leather, 16" x-lites, climate, sunroof, heated seats, MFSW, Alpine CD. Whalen Shifter, Bonnet stripes, tints all round. Normally to be found in the outside lane of the M20.

v8voodoo are you not a bit concerned that some punk will try and steal your caps, not succeed then take it out on your car?

It seems to be small kids taking them round here. (I hear they swop them in school )
It's "spin caps" for me

I have the MINI ones, but I am way to terrified to even put them on my baby. So I use those cheap steel ones. I just put them on really hard with pliers, I doubt someone will be stealing them unless they have pliers with them.

Idiots!!!!!!!!!!

Some clever genious somewhere sitting at his desk drinking milk decided to make the valve size the same for cars as they are for pedal bikes!!!

Thats what the bugger kids steel them for, to stick on thier bloody bikes!

Sorry for sounding a bit angry, but it just gets on my nerves!

Had some TSW Imola's on my old car, had the proper TSW Valve caps (£25 quid a set) and they stole them, now some kids going around with valve caps more expensive than his bike!

After this i went for the halfords steel set, only £1.95 and they look good, and if the buggers do steel them its not to much hasel in replacing them.

Sicilian and Proud. MCS, DS/W, half leather/laps blue, Chilli Pack, DSC, CD Boost, Spot lights, aero kit, painted arches, painted wheels

Just a thought, why not tighten them with pliers so they can't be undone with fingers??

the only problem that steers me away from lockable caps is that i have a mate that had them, they still got nicked and they wrecked the valves resulting in three flat tyres also !!!!... demontweeks in the uk do flush fit valves, yeah they're a tyre off job to fit, but wont be appealing to kids for bikes, i'm going to switch when I get tyres fitted next
