| MINI2 Regular | front/back mud flap? pic/comments? for some reason, I always like mud guards and I think they do a good job preventing those dirt splash to the side of the car. I had mud guards on all my previous cars. I'm thinking about adding both front and rear or just front mud flap. I'm getting my MCS in two weeks and I haven't seen any cars out there with the mud flaps and I can't find a good pictures of them fitted. I'm a little worry how they will effect the look of the car. If you guys saw them or have them installed in your car, can you please show me a pic, or comment on how you think they look? thank you so much. |

Offline | Big no no in my opinion. First, they only protect the area directly behind the flap. Further back still gets all the dirt splash and rocks. Second and most important to me, they're just plain butt ugly. But hey, if you like them, then go for it. Besides, where are you driving in Southern California that you have to worry about dirt splash?? |

| MINI2 Regular | Noopd I'll have to agree with rlvette on the look and function of the back flaps. But i did pick up the front ones and they are *hardly* noticeable but they make a huge difference as to how much and where craps lands on the car.... ( as noted in my profile) i have a Liquid Yellow car and every bit of road tar and grime is very visible on the car - At least when my nose is to the surface when washing it) and not I get almost NO tar spots and the likes all the way up the doors..., so I'm all for the front ones... The back ones on the other hand cover the rear side marker lights and do next to nothing for the car so what's the point !!! Liquid Yellow Cooper |

Offline | I got the fronts and am glad I did as the bottom edge of the door doesn't get as bad as it used to. Didn't bother with the rears as they don't stop the hatch getting filthy. |

Offline | Got front and rears on my MC. Fronts are discreet and do a good job of keeping the road filth off the doors. Rears fit on over plastic wheel arches and are made of the same hard plastic. From the side they make the rear body of the car look lower and more square from the rear, but they are useless at keeping the muck off the hatch. |

Offline | alternative rear mudflaps1 I originally had a set out MINI ones but never fitted them as i don't like the way they cover the wheel arch trim (badly) and are stuck on! So finally got round to fitting these ones: ![]() What do you think? they need a slight adjustment but only cost me £7.99 from halfords(excluding the mini logo - i made them!) and don't need to be stuck on! would suit those MCS drivers too! Only downside is if you've got 17's they'll probably rub slightly over bumps! Generally the flaps are reducing the amount of crud getting on the back of the car but not stopping it altogehter! Offline | Max - they are made by Cannon - the are branded with this - hence the need to put mini logo's on them instead. But they are a doddle to fit (easier if you take the wheel off) but one mod is required - looking at the picture - the part of the flap to the inside doesn't quite sit right due to the angle of the wheel arch - however i made a small hole in the flap and in the edge of the inner arch and fed a tie wrap though - once the wheels on you can't see it and it pulls the flap back into line. the come off in 5 mins and leave no trace of having been fitted in the first place too! Offline | I have pics of the front flaps fitted on my MC - Click the link in my sig and look under "Miscellaneous Mods". BTW, I know there's mudsplats on the skirts in the pictures, but I took these pics immediately after installing them, so that mud doesn't count! ![]() |

Offline | Those are the 2002 model MINI rubber mats (at least in the USA). They replaced them in 2003 with mats that have little rubber dots instead of the notched rings because supposedly your feet could get hung up on the rings. Typical American litigation paranoia. You can find pics of both varieties in this thread: Click here. Anyway, I got mine from an ebay seller from Canada (where they still have them). His ebay name is stuffstuffandmorestuff, and I believe he frequents the MINI forums. Here is a current auction from him. Go here and click on his name to send him a message. I'm sure he could help get you some. I paid $60 plus shipping for a set of four. |

Offline | ![]() Just received a very nice package from Dorset! Now a fitting question for Max and Wul: Did you use the big washers or only zip ties? I can't quite figure out how those big washers fit in the small space on the arch. Y'all don't have lights in your arches, and the US lights look like they might be right in the way. I think the OEM flaps also use adhesive. I'll have to see if I can work that in. Pics to follow if I can work this out. |
