| MINI2 Regular | Fuel lid not locked when using central Lock? Have swerved so hard and the fuel lid opened even all doors were locked via consol central lock switch. So try to experiment, and found out that fuel lid isn't locked when using central lock but will lock when using fob key lock button. Is that the same for everyone? MCS JCW Dark Silver/Black |

| Let's Motor. | This does make some sense. As long as you walk away from the car, the only way to lock it is using the key. So in theory, you'd only be using the central locking system when in the car, so there is no reason to lock the gas cap unless you are worried someone is going to run up to it when stopped at a light and do something stupid. | MINI2 Regular | Yeah, I agree with you on that no one can sneak behind you can open your gas tank and ignite it. Just feel curious that why the lock mechanism is different between locking with central lock and key fob. I seem to think that the central lock will lock every latch including fuel lid. It might make sense in my country that every petrol station is full service so you sit in car with your door lock and have some one fill the tank withour leaving the car so you are protected if someone wants to hi jack your car. | MINI2 Master | Central lock will UNLOCK the fuel cap, I know that. Perhaps the desired operation is: pull up to full-serve gas station, unlock car with central locking to open gas cap, then lock car with central locking so no one can car-jack you. Seems a bit paranoid but... The auto-lock feature locks everything, including the gas cap when you drive away. Another interesting gas-cap fact. When you double-pull the driver's door to open it, the gas cap opens as well so you can get gas but leave the passenger side door and trunk locked. I'd love to see the flow-charts for this thing. Many other cars have separate gas and trunk releases, not one button, which looks simpler but turns out to be more complicated. Harry MINI Cooper Cabrio: now the car with go cart handling really feels like an open go cart! | Let's Motor. | Another one of MINI's quorks... What I still can't get over is that MINI did not even design a light for low washer fluid, or even a light to warn you that one of the doors is still open while you're driving, yet they can find time to put a light to warn you about brake pad wear? Sheesh... ![]() Adam ![]() |
