United-States Dilemma: Colgan bra and driving lights

I am planning to pick up my Cooper S from the dealership in Utah and drive it to California. Being conscious about flying pebbles from the freeway (I-80, tons of trucks), I decided to purchase a Colgan bra to protect the front end. From the pictures, it seems that the bra has a mesh around the grill area. So, if I order the driving lights from the dealership, I may have to make a couple of slits along the mesh in order to fit the bra.

Anyone has a better solution? I guess I don't need to order the driving lights and do them later. Another idea was having a clear bra. But the dealership refused to do that because of a bad prior experience.

I guess what I am trying to ask is whether it is just fine to slit the mesh of the bra in order to accomodate the driving lights.

You should be fine in cutting slits to accommodate the lights, but you'll need to have the exposed edges on them sewn up so that the cut doesn't continue to simply tear.

I have the bra and the MINI driving lights from the dealer on my S.
I found that I could place the bra around the lights without making slits or modifications - looks good.
Try it first - cut later

I had previously posted that Colgan Custom (www.colgancustom.com) now makes a bra for the Mini that has the factory driving lights. They did an excellent job and everything is working just fine. I would not suggest that you cut the mesh in the bra, because it might start unraveling. Since Colgan Custom made a template using my car, why not just get the real product from them? Check their web site for phone number, etc.

I was going to get the invisishield option but my dealer said they have a company come in and install Autobahnd (www.autobahnd.com) and it is supposed to work pretty well. I went with it and am still waiting to receive my MINI (it was just unloaded from the ship yesterday WOOHOO!! getting closer ) so I can't comment on how well it functions yet.

Just my negative 2¢ but have you ever seen the hood of a car that's had a bra on it for a while? Looks like doo doo.
Get a cheap one for the trip and toss it when you get home.
