| MINI2 Newbie | Yesterday I noticed that my Drivers side mirror is now cracked. I picked up a new one from the dealer they said they would fix it for free but I can't find the time to get there. Could someone give me the Step by step on the replacement or should I take the day off to have it fixed. Thanks inadvance Don |

Offline | Re: Replace Mirror (Drivers Side) Do you mean the mirror glass only or the complete unit it's self (outercase, securing bracket etc?). If it's the mirror glass then all you do it pull it off the motorised hub. Mine was cracked and I pulled it off by winding a cord around the mirror and then tugging quickly. This releases the mirror glass from the securing lugs. To replace just reconnect the heater wires and then push back in place. Hope this helps. |

Offline | Per the tech service CD, position the mirror to its fartherst inward position (using the electronic in-cabin control knob). Grab the exposed outside edge of the mirror with your fingers, and tug. Should pop right off. |

| MINI2 Newbie | Thanks For all the help, I finally took the mirror off the way the posts said and it was no problem. On the other hand, I now found out that BMW gave me the wrong mirror it's NOT the heated one so back I go to the dealer to get the heated mirror replacement. Thanks For All your help MrDon |

Offline | Are the Mini driver's-side mirrors on cars delivered to European countries the same as the ones on the Minis sent to the U. S.? The reason I ask is that on all of the cars I have rented in Germany, the driver's side mirrors were curved on the far edge of the mirror so that the view of a car passing on your left is visible the entire time - eliminating the bad dead spot entirely. Are such mirrors available as a special order? |
