Question....

Do you replace just the tail light lens or replace the whole assembly?

Do you mind posting the part numbers and price, please? TIA.

clear lenses

AV51HCC, please do the clear lenses and post a picture. I can't imagine it being anything less than beautiful (balance the headlights) and since I'm staring at your Cooper anyway...
I'm thinking of the clear lenses and a white John Cooper signature just ahead of the rear wheels.
BTW benggolf, it's my understanding you replace the whole assembly.

MINImeat, yes that is what I found out.

Also the kit come with a replacement clear 3rd brake light lens that is mounted on the top of rear hatch. Are you planning on replacing yours too?

Thanks.

I like the clear third brake light with the white roof, but I have to admit I prefer the original lights on the back of red minis, as they are nearly all red inside the assemblies.

They look sweet on the silver, dark silver and yellow minis though.

(sorry big M)

Exactly the same thoughts as mine. The clear light clusters are nice... but only on certain colours, unfortunately chilli red does not quallify in my book - sorry monsta

Although I too have chilli red, I went out and got only the clear third brake light which in my opinion looks ace with a white roof.

But everything is all down to personal tastes

Casey

You are right
Your Mini looks great
Clears and JC signature are just enough with the white roof

I was going to order all blk mcs...but I started leaning towards blk/wht...and then after seeing your pics...WOW...it was done...blk/wht and had to have the clear lenses...they look so damn good. Have you had any problems with cops for not having the reflectors installed? I'm guessing most cops prolly don't realize that is illegal...i'm not going to put on the reflectors either...ruins the look.

No problems, yet, besides the one cop who pulled up beside me while doing 45mph and turned on his lights and siren while motioning for me to roll down my window. When I did, he screamed "WHO MAKES THAT CAR?". Try explaining the BMW/ROVER/MINI issue to a cop at 45mph... I just screamed BMW to him.
Fortunately, law enforcement is too busy dealing with crazy people to worry about DOT regulations in the US. I also don't foresee alot of trouble during annual inspection. As long as lights/signals/wipers work and the emissions computer says it's OK, they don't seem to be concerned about anything else.
I do plan to wire the rear fogs to the brake lights, though.

New Mini Clear Lights w. Red Reflector

My Australian Mini dealer advises me of a new revised clear lens with a small red reflector ring now in it. A bit of a hybrid that is meant to pass regulations without an external reflector being added. Tne dealer did not have the new one in stock but it is available.

Anybody know about these and can post a picture?

Cheers

The dealer was able to elaborate today and told me that these are the red lenses with the clear signal area discussed elsewhere and also available through CTD. They are now distributed through Mini dealers for about AU$ 500 plus $90 fitting charge.

Cheers

Is it easy to get replacement bulbs?

Where do I get them?

How much do they cost?
