Talking Checkered Sunroof: Finished Job

Finished pictures toward end of thread.....

When I ordered Felix I envisioned a checkered roof...
but since I was getting the sunroof I could not get the decal factory fitted.
I figured white checks on a black roof/sunroof, and you could see out between the checks when looking up from inside.

But before I actually do it, I want some input from you all!
Here is a pic of the car, and an image of the 2 types that Idle Gear has that I'm interested in. The ones I saw from Cooper Flags seemed to be solid, not clear in-between. So far only Idle Gear has what I'm looking for.

I'm favoring the smaller checks bacause 1) I haven't seen any like this yet & 2) I'm thinking the smaller checks will look better with the extra seams for the sunroof. The checks would be white with the black roof/sunroof showing through.

Should I do it? Which one, small or large? Should I just put it off a while?
Please comment pro or con. I think I'll do a poll too. Thanks y'all...

Hey thanks for the input (really). It helps to get others opinions sometimes,
even though usually I'm really headstrong about stuff.
The little checks are losin' big in the polls.... (hmmm.. the big Chech wins for Governator?)
So please continue to post comments.. does anybody really like the checkered roof on the MC?

I would wait... if you had a white roof I can see it, but not with the sunroof... it's too cool to cover it up with a checker pattern... a flag or other design that fits the sunroof I can see...

I would love to see a white\black yinyang that you can still see through the sunroof...

Hey BartMack those rims are sweet! I am already board with my MINI (HaHa) and am asking myself the same question as you, Oh what to do? I personally like the bigger checks, can we find perforated white so that we can see through the whole thing? I was also considering side checks instead.

I went to a cruise nite in town last week. Upon entering the sign said classic cars. I did not want to interfer so I parked at the back of the lot. Within minutes I had 15 people asking questions much to the dismay of the classic car folks. OOPs!

I like the Jolly Roger for the sunroof

My 2 cents...keep the change

I have enough troubles overcoming my own limitations without fretting over the fact that God has not seen fit to distribute evenly the gift of intelligence.

go to cooperflags.com (I think that's the address) it's on that site......I'm a Tampa Bay Buccaneer fan (NFL), so I am kind of biased

That's very funny about the classic car meet you ran across. I heard from others that even the classic Mini owners have a strange antagonism toward
new MINI owners I don't understand it though.

I'm more and more convinced of using large checks rather than small. Dunno what I was thinking...
both Cooper Flags & Car Vogue have perforated versions, but they are black and white vinyl with holes in both.... the way I'm thinking would be only white vinyl like the pic below. Can still see out pretty good-

United-States BIG FREAK"N CHECKS! Put 'em on the glass...

Actually, I'd recommend SILVER checks on your car. Got 'em from Idle Gear. Self install.

You've already got the name. Why not see if Cooper Flags can do a large Felix the Cat for your roof? Be bold! Be different!

You know I'm really glad I did this - thank you guys for suggesting silver checks rather than white, I really like that idea. And big checks it is. not all the way to the roof edge, though, I want it to be apparent that it's silver checks on a black roof.

I'm planning to order the kit from IdleGear in the UK, Ģ60 I think which should be about $96 or so. I hope they will ship to the US. I have no idea how long it will take.
I'm also planning to do the install myself.

Brave1, after the delivery you won't remember the pain. ( or so I've heard )
No really the last day or so is the worst, after that its the break in period,
learning to park in the outer regions of the shopping zone,
finding wax good enough for your MINI,
answering everybody's questions,
feeling amazed that you have such cool car when others are driving Hondas and Kias
.......see you'll be so busy you'll forget all about that horrendous w . . . . . a . . . . .i . . . . . t . . . . . . .
