| ITS RAINNIN' SIDEWAYS | bonnet stripe fitting guide? does anyone have a link to a fitting guide for bonnet stripes - official or otherwise? a friend rang me last night to ask if i knew how to fit them - his sister in law bought some stripes from the dealer & they had no fitting instructions with them. i know about the spraying with water & stuff, its the positioning on the bonnet that i'm interested in |

Offline | Positioning depends on your preference..... Do you want the 'Classic' Mini Styling? Is it an S or a Cooper? Are these dealer supplied stripes (precut to exact fit) or aftermarket, able to go to the edges? I went with 'S' stripes on my MINI, and went wide with them. I felt the stripes needed the edge for the mirrors. But that's me.......look through all the pics you can find, see what you want to do. |

Offline | Blather your bonnet with soapy water. If its an S the stripes need to be placed 20mm from the side of the washer jet at the top of the stripe and 10mm from the scoop at the bottom. If its a Cooper they need to be placed the same 20mm from the washer jets at the top and then i think its 160mm from the tip of each wing on the MINI bonnet badge (i'll av 2 check that).Iuse chinograph wax pencil to mark my bonnet up layed the stripes, then squeeged the water out from under the layed stripes ![]() ![]() [img]http://www.mini2.com/gallery/personal/aus-timpowers/sig_no_3.jpg[img] MCS,Chili pk,Tints,Eibachs,Aeroskirts,PIAA spots,Wunoff Exhaust system. | MINI2 Newbie | Hi Search for my recent thread about bonnet strip application tips. I applied some stripes last weekend with great results and no problems at all. The plenty of soapy water tip was excellent. Keep a bucket of it handy and fill a spray bottle with the same soapy liquid. I had shorts on so no problem in getting wet. The stripes I had were positioned on the bonnet so the tops and bottoms were level with the bodywork. Soapy water the bonnet up, peel off the back and apply. Don't wory about them sticking...just keep applying the soapy water from the spray. The tip of a few glasses of wine/beer/alcohol does help before starting Cheers Gary |
