Offline | chrome vents - what am I doing wrong? Guys got my new chrome vents today, they look cool. Got the old ones off easily, however trying to fit the new ones back I can't seem to get them to stay in position. It is as if the pin at the other end from the clip (towards the front of the car) is way too thin to make contact with the grommet inside. Should be easy, but what am I missing? |

Offline | OK Think that I have managed it ok,...the grommit is held in place by a small metal piece that is attached to the car inner wing. It seems that this can be moved slightly. That way allowing some purchase against the protruding pin of the chrome vent. Makes me think that these side indicators could be easily pulled off by any passing ner do well. Not sure if I have super confidence in the security of their fit...but they do look really nice. Any experience of this those who have done similar? |

| MINI2 Regular | My dealer fitted my side vents for me. They replace the grommets for me as well. The new grommets gripped the end peg very securely as they formed themselves to the shape of the end peg. The old grommets had already formed themselves into the shape of the old end pegs so found it difficult to hold the new peg secure. The new grommets were only 20 pence each. Black Jack |

Offline | I was sent new grommets and that solved the problem. When I first fitted them the front could easily be popped out. Perhaps the grommets should be treated as consumable and replaced when fitting new vents. I'm sure they's only cost pennies from your dealer. An alternative would be to put a wee bit silicone sealant in there. Red/Black R56 Cooper |

Offline | Cheers Ken/ Keef I have jammed them in but I am not too sure how many bumps they will take, perhaps I better just get some new grommets to be on the safe side. Ken Did Henry Bros in Glasgow get you them? Sounds like they had to order yours in specifically whereas Keefs dealer had them in stock. I thought about glueing them for about 3 seconds....! D'Oh! |

Offline | No. I've got the shark's gill type and the kind chap who supplies them sent me new grommets. If you've got any silicone sealer at home (either clear or black), a wee dab of that inside the grommet should do the trick. You'll also be able to get them out again if you have to. If not ask your dealer, they'll either have them in stock or be able to supply them within a day or two. Cheers, KenL Red/Black R56 Cooper |
