Offline | Hi, I was wondering if anyone has fitted a lamp bar and driving lamps. I would like a bar with 4 lamps but do not know who to purchase from. I will be fitting them myself and so need a kit that is easy to install. Does anybody have any experience with them? I have seen them being sold by NewMiniSport and Moss. Where should I purchase from? Any help much appreciated. |

Offline | I have ordered the bar from NewMINISport, as I am away at the moment in Iraq, I will have to wait til the middle of Sept to get back and install it. I have seen one fitted on a MINI at a ashow and it looks good. |

Offline | I personally prefer the official MINI lights. I fitted mine myself. Wasn't difficult to do, just a pain in the @rse. If you do a search on '4 spot lights' you should find a major thread with all the install details in. Check out my gallery for some pics. Offline | Tim, The part number is 63 12 137 301 I think. Or just ask your dealer for (one or) two sets of driving lights, they'll know what you mean. Offline | mepgcmm: The consensus over many threads is that the Mini "factory" lamps look best, but are not the best solution if your goal is light. PIAA, Hella, Marchal, Cibie and others all make better lamps, and for less money. But, they are usually bigger and heavier, thus hood mounting may be a problem because of vibration (the lamp bar mentioned above may solve that problem if it mounts to the body). Even owners of two "factory" lamps report some minor vibration movement of the lamps. So, to summarize... * if looks are the issue, and money is not, get the lamps from your dealer. * If cost and looks are important, use the factory mounts and get some less expensive smaller (and probably better) OEM lamps. * If you want simple blinding light, forget the factory stuff and use OEM lamps and mounting perl CAVEAT The opinions stated are an attempt to summarize several months of discussions over several threads and, this being a public forum, are bond to be wrong in many people's minds - so it goes - your mileage may vary.Last edited by perl : Sep 6th, 2003 at 05:31 PM. |

Offline | Now you've just gone and taken all the fun out of trawling through 15-20 threads on driving lights looking for that single nugget of useful info! Good summary though ![]() IB ONE, Seven Hole Alloys, Air Con, CD, Chrome bits - Now with Chrome mirrors and chrome side vents + Custom engraved Whalen Shift Knob and four, yes four driving lights! |
