| MINI2 Newbie | Front bumper removal Hi, I've got a dent in the middle of my front bumper and I read somewhere that I can improve it with a heatgun and a small hammer(!). This has been made by an illegally parked vehicle which hit my awesome car with a towing ball (the bloody f……g b…..d!) and drove away. I need to remove the front bumper first but I can’t find anything about it in this forum. Did anyone experience it before? Is it easy to remove and to refit? Which screw and bolt do I need to remove? Thanks for your help! ...Sushi |

Offline | This is a copy and paste from the R53 site, figured it would help out other viewers. Not to mention saving bandwith for what matters most: The SPAM getting to your email client. STEP 1:* Removing the front bumper cover…. I jacked my MINI up and put it on jack stands so that I could remove the tires.*This not only gives you more room to remove the bumper cover, but I cleaned the brake dust off and gave them a good wax before I installed them…. To jack…I used my shop jack.*Look under the car and about center point, you will see the body molding protruding downwards. I placed a 2x4, about 2 ft long under that part, to give the car stability.* Used the two “jack points” to put jack stands under to keep the car stationary. Repeat on the other side……. Removing the bumper cover is straight forward.*The hex head bolts accessible from the front wheel wells are 8mm, the center three fasteners which attach the bottom of the cover to the bumper are 10mm, and the outer two are Phillips. The top two bolts are TORX T30.* As you remove these, keep a hand on the cover as it is only held by a couple of plastic tabs.* When you have the cover free, pull it out enough to get to the lighting wires. These are the basic twist on attached and will allow you to completely remove the cover. |

Offline | Removing the front bumper is a 20 minute job, just done it to fit lower chrome grille to my S. The above guidelines are useful but removing the wheels is not necessary, just turn wheels to left lock when removing bolts from right side and vice versa. I found it easier to unscrew the indicator from the bumper (top screws) then you can lift the bumber str8 out. Hyper Blue/Black Cooper. Side skirts/Aero grill, Milltek, chrome bitz and a scary roof graphic. A SKATEBOARD IS FOR LIFE NOT JUST FOR CHRISTMAS |

Offline | Removed my grill yestreday to install a light bar and it came off in no time at all. No major problems, just make sure you disconnect the indicators, side lights and temperature sensor !!! :-) |
