Offline | How to remove reverse/backup light? Did a search here & on MCO, seems like the only answer I got was to contact the dealer, who'll probably charge an hour of labour. Is it possible to replace the backup/reverse lamp yourself on an MCS? |

Offline | Yeah, just removing the bulb. I felt behind the backup lamp assembly but I couldn't feel any screws or clips. Looked in the Owners Manual but no instructions on how to remove this particular bulb. ![]() |

Offline | lol ... can you feel the wires going into the light? does it just twist in/out like the front fogs and other lights? or is there possibly a screw in the lense that needs to be removed then the lense will come off? just of the common ways lights usually work |

Offline | It felt pretty flat behind the lamp housing, didn't recall feeling any wires/plugs, or maybe I didn't reach high enough (if it was a skirt it'd be a different story!! ) No screws at the front of the lense either. Let's hope I don't have to take off the entire bumper just to change a bulb... |

Offline | there is some kind of 'shield' below the lamp (keep dirt out? protect wires?) you have to reach up around it. there is not much room but I did feel the wires and it felt like it should twist out, however being that its 1am and dark as hell I wasn't gonna test that theory completely lol |

Offline | I'm not sure if you've done this yet, but GMINI03's determination it twists makes sense, if you look at the front indicator bulbs, (look down with the bonnet open) you can see how they twist in, it should be almost exactly the same on the rear, so you know what you're looking for. Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball. |

Online | If its a cooper with the plastic cover under the car then this just drops down after undoing 3 screws. The Reverse light is cliped in if you stick your hands behind the bumper you will feel the lock tabs either side. The bulb holder twists through 90 degrees and pops out mmm here is one I have just been playing with ![]() |

Offline | Thanks for your tips guys! I went & felt up the car (she's my honey, u know) but I couldn't feel any screws All I could feel was a plastic cover of some sort & I think I felt some plastic clips on the sides of the cover. I couldn't peek under the bumper 'coz the exhaust tips are in the way (Coop S). So, should I attempt to pry the tabs/clips open somehow to reveal the bulb holder? |

Offline | I live in a pretty dark area & I often have to parallel park (back-in) on the side of the street. I find the stock reverse light a little too dim & I was thinking of trying one of those aftermarket "same wattage higher intensity" bulbs to see if it helps. Riding the brakes even with the modded "North American-rear-fogs-to-extra-brake-lights" conversion doesn't help much as red lights do not actually light up anything. Hope I don't have to drop the exhaust just for a light bulb change... |

Offline | Unsolved Mystery... I peeked under there & there are actually a couple things in the way- the exhaust tips & some kinda metal shielding behind the bumper over the exhaust tips... I think I might need to recruit Tinker Bell to help tackle this project... |

Offline | You sure you can't just reach up over the exhaust and around the shield and grab the bulb holder and twist? I haven't looked, but it seems likely, albeit not very easy to do. (The front lights are a similar pain but doable) Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball. |
