Question Chrome exhasut pipe

Hello All,

was wondering if anyone has purchased the chrome exhaust pipe for their MINI Cooper?

Am I right in understanding it costs only £20? How much on top of that will the fitting be?

Any pics? Is it worth it over the standard item?

Thanks

Riccardo

A search for Chrome Exhaust finds this thread:

There's pictures of it on post 21 I believe

Everyone seems to have fit it themselves.

Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball.

Well, I purchased it for the $30 and it was installed when I picked up my MINI on Tuesday. Little did I realize that the "regular" tip was what I wanted all along. But, in any case, I think I'll leave it hoping it will grow on me, but it seems just a little large and out of place and even slightly rice. If I had known what I know now, I wouldn't have bothered.

I think my dealer charged $75.00 to put it on (it's welded). I'm glad I got it!

WELDED ON!!! Someone's telling you porkeys there mate! If its the one pictured below and the official MINI one (as mine is) no welding is involved at all. If they've welded it on anyway, God knows why! Probably so they can charge you more money!!

Simply removed the old one with an Alan key and the new one is a push on job. Tight fit, but mines done 10,000 miles and not budged a milimetre!

Thanks for all the opinions and the link to the old thread (duh). It does look quite nice, though to be fair I'll wait till I see one 'live' on a Coop before I decide whether to go for it or not. I am more attracted by the fact its chromed, thus bit shiny, rather than by its diameter. The standard pipe is quite wide as it is, can't immagine it even wider.

Wink

It takes about ten minutes, maximum, to take the old tip off and put the new one on. Anyone could do it, and I would bet there are more disadvantages than advantages if you really did get it welded on. Believe me, it won't come off unless you want it to. The installation is toolless and you literally just shove the SOB on there. In my opinion, it is worth the money as it costs so little, but the normal tip is fine, too. When I picked my car up, I thought it already had the tip on there as it seemed so big, but the dealer told me it was back ordered. I fetched it a couple of weeks ago. It is a nice touch for $30 IMO, especially if you have the chrome line exterior.

I bought one, installed it, then decided that I preferred the original. Luckily, my dealer took it back with no problem.
