Cooper S Filler Cap

has any one had a go at fitting the cooper S filler car to a standard ONE or COOPER?? i bought it last week and had a go at fitting it today. the dealer told me it would take them at least an hour to fit it!!

so with the help of no fitting instructions i was on my way.

firstly i had to spray the surrounding cos no doubt the dealer was going to charge the earth for a tiny bit of spraying. (it already came primed luckly)

and this is how i did it

the old filler cap (painted outer) twists off from the surrounding allowing extra room when angling the old unit out.
then, with a flat bladed screwdriver wrapped in insulation tape, the three buldges around the fuel nosel were tweeked until the whole thing came free.
the new one then simply goes back in in reverse not fogetting to put the painted surround in and swaping the fuel nosel cap from the old one on to the new one

then just a quick polish to get rid of all the finger prints and jobs done!!

then it rains just in time for me to take a pic!!!

what du ya fink and before you ask it is rain thats on the paint not a fancy paint job ive had done!!

ill post more pick when its dried off!!

Umm, looks alittle tilted to the right, the middle arrow part should be parallel to the ground (straight).

Should look like this...

Come to think of it, that may give you problems when you try to lock the car since the locking mechanism is now un-aligned.

Looks pretty good though.

Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball.

i know it looks a bit on the raz i had to squeeze down the side of the car to take it. it is striaght tho. the locking mech. works ok the only thing that is a bit off is on the left hand side of the painted insert where it meets the body it isnt sitting tight up to it like the rest. any ideas on how to get it to move over now the clips are all in??? i have tried to put some force on to it but it wont move and the last thing i want to do is to take it apart again.
