| Hulk. | MMMmmmmm.... I would take the body colored arches in a heart beat. How much are they to do right now at the dealership if your willing to pay extra and have all that done? |

Offline | The day I picked up my Cooper S the dealer showed me a customers S that was being PDI'd. It was in Pure Silver and the new owner had got the dealer to colour code the arches, sills, front and rear bumper lips. I think they call it plasticising and can be a bit hit and miss in how it turns out. The dealer charged a cool £450 for the privelage. Glad I left mine well alone, I think the black looks good and one of the things that makes the MINI stand out. I guess it would have to be a factory option for the colour codeing to look good! |

Offline | Is the tricky part putting R85 wheels on a Cooper :| ? Anyway, as far as I know the hydrogen its automatically pumped for you. Hence the robot arm, and the red and geen light to tell you when to stop and go. I wonder what the range is like? The 7 series hydrogen I saw at an auto show had a good portion of the boot taken up with tanks. Not like there's lots of room for tanks in the MINI... Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball. |

Offline | If they are gonna offer painted arches I think they should do it on all cars. It will look weird with some MINIs with black plastic and others with painted ones. I like the black plastic ones which are apparantly really cheap if scraped, it would be a LOT more expensive for pained bits. Red/Black R56 Cooper |

Offline | IMO i think the body coloured arches, sills etc will look good on certain colours eg black, EB , but they really look sweet in black. By the way, if the dealers are charging £450 now, will it be the same price if they make the options list? Or will it be dearer? Cos I can't see BMW making it cheaper as the current options list isn't exactly cheap!! Thats my two penneth! Paul |

Offline | The black arches are cheap. My Cooper had an untimely meeting with a heap of stone falling off a truck from my local quarry (who, of course, denied all knowledge of having a truck in the area during said incident) which scraped the rear wheel arch and cracked the area under the front bumper. Black rear wheel arch £9 Entire front replacement £20 Not second-handers, genuine stuff from my local Beemer dealers! |

Offline | i just ordered the front aero bumper and side aero skirts i was gonna paint the wheel arches gloss black (since ihave a black roof)...but i am gonna hold off..and see if this comes through... because arches painted outside are really prone to chipping since they are of that plastic nature, i would rather wait for the dealer. |

Offline | ARRRRGH, I do hope they dont offer painted arches as an option. I love the fact that mine stands out as being different with painted arches, ive never seen another one that has them in the flesh and I get so many comments. Mini gradually offering different options is realy starting to get on my nerves. As soon as you get yours delivered another option comes out that you'd want making your car seem old straight away. Im gonna keep a close eye on this thread cos as soon as they confirm they are gonna offer this option i think i might have to sell before the rest of the public find out and my car would stop being unique and thereby lose value. PLEASE DONT OFFER PAINTED ARCHES MINI!!!! 2003 DS/DS Cooper S |

Offline | well if you are worried about mini bringing new options and making your car seem "old" right away, you should never buy cars, or bicycles or houses for that matter as time goes by, new things come out, its called progression ![]() |

Offline | I take your point, but it is annoying none the less, and the mini is 'progressing' far quicker than any other car ive ever seen with seemingly a change every month or so. The painted arches is the main thing ive got the hump about though, as that was never something that i expected to become a standard option as it was a random customisation that id only heard about a few people on here doing. Oh well, what will be will be, lets be honest, im kidding myself if i think im gonna sell my baby! 2003 DS/DS Cooper S |

![]() 6X therapist | To coin a phrase, 'look before you leap', or 'dont count your bridges before they are burned', whatever you do, if you really like MINI, and your spec says you do, hang on a bit before you make up your mind. Marry in haste , repent at leisure, etc. etc. |

Offline | Has a date been set for the introduction of this option then? Any idea of the cost? I'm not fussed one way or the other. It may look a bit weird with stuck on painted arches rather than them being in the metal. They may scratch easy to like the bumpers. One BIG plus though is not having to put on stuff to keep them black. Red/Black R56 Cooper |

Offline | I know where you are coming from Fullupo, straight out of the box option defeats the object of modification, but it had to happen as it looks too good not to do it. Just consider yourself a front runner Still got a few things to colour code on mine, as long as I beat the option box I dont mind. Was a 1, now 1 of 150 in a 40 |

Offline | Personally IMO cars with painted arches to match the body don't look as powerful or masculine. However, it does have a more finished look to it. I just don't think it matches the appearance of the car with most colors. I much prefer the look of all the black plastic being painted black. Looks exceptional when combined with cars that a have a black roof. For example, Bonnie Scotlands DS/B MCS has black painted plastic and it looks great. In conclusion, let it be an option that you may choose between both color-matching and black. For everyone, has there own desire and opinion on what looks bad and good. Another awesome way to individualize you car from the factory. I myself would retrofit black parts. |
