DIY Bonnet Stripe Install

A question for those who have done DIY bonnet stripe installs:

For a few days/weeks afterwards did you have lots of little bubbles under the stripes even though there were non on initial application? If so, how long did they take to go down or did you have to puncture them with a pin?
