Angry Rally light vibration

I had some after market (PIAA 40's) rally lights installed by my dealer using the MINI OEM mounting brackets and they vibrate SO BAD that they are useless. I just noticed that a screw actually came off one of the light housings... vibrated right out, lost somewhere on a road. Anyone know how to fix or minimize this? I will be adding this to my fix list to be done on Wed at the dealer. My lights (the PIAA 40's) are VERY light weight, so I don't think they are the problem.

Thanks, Shawn

I have the factory ones self installed and no vibration worth noting, didn't even put the anti vibrations screws through the grill, decided holes in the grill were unnecessary

If you have no idea what I was trying to describe look on pages 15 and 16 of the spot light instruction sheet (technical - oem fitting guides section of M2)

Vibration is a real problem with larger lights, though contrary to what people say, even the factory lights have some vibration. I have 6" Cibie's on mine and going over a semi-rough road they'd have a strobing effect on signs and such to the point that it was a distraction.

The main problem is the bracket metal is too thin. You need to either buy some heavier brackets (someone makes them, naybe Minimania) or get creative like I did and have some reinforcing metal welded to the lower foot and backstrap of the bracket.

Another, smaller, contributor is the use of poprivets to mount the brackets. Get rid of them and replace them with machine screws and nuts for a much more secure mounting.

If you do a search for this topic here and on MCO you'll find several threads covering this problem.

For another (IMHO better) approach, take a look at this thread
