| modiMINI | Pepper White Roof -- Sunroof Vinyl? I am getting my '04 MCS later this month (October) and it is PW/PW with Cordoba Beige interior. I am going to put vinyl stripes on it that will go across the bonnet, then across the roof, and then down the boot and over the rear bumper. Since the roof is the same color as the body, Pepper White, and the panoramic sunroof is black, I wanted to put perforated vinyl over the sunroof to make the sunroof match the rest of the roof. However, I do not know who has matching vinyl (perforated) for the Pepper White paint color (most standard vinyl comes in plain white). Any ideas, products, or vendors come to mind? Thanks. |

| modiMINI | Thanks Ryan. Maybe I could have posted a thread for an opinion poll -- you would have weighed in right away. Was just hoping for some assistance from someone with some experience with getting matching vinyl for the PW roof. I have seen alot of MINIs with solid looking white roofs that also had sunroofs. |

Offline | Cooperflags can probably do it for you, as they can match to all car colours or pantones, ad is usually at top of page. Sounds like a it could be great, if you are un-sure get someone to do a photoshop for you so you can picture it ![]() The only problem I have is knowing which one to drive? ![]() |

| modiMINI | Not unsure of ho wit will look. Hey Rakey, Thanks for the tip. I am glad that you think it will look good. We are not "unsure" of how it will look. As you can see by my signature, I work for a design agency, and we have a lot of mock-ups of the design of the new '04 MCS. I looked at Cooper Flags previously, but they do not use the colored vinyl that I am referring to. I would prefer to use something that is a true vinyl color, not a color from an large format printer (which usually only has an outdoor lifetime rating for around 2 years -- killed by UV ). A true vinyl such as the Oracal Series would have a lifeime of more like 7 to 10 years. I will post one of the comps (Photoshop mock-ups) soon. Ciao. |

Offline | I don't want to suggest against what you're looking for ModiMINI, but if you want a perfect color match so it looks correct, then I really don't think you'd be able to find a solid color vinyl that matches because PW isn't a 'normal' color. Looking at the Oracal color chart: http://www.oracal.com/pdf/8500crossref.pdf it doesn't seem to show much that's not a basic color, like white or blue or black. They even list the other vendors' colors (though probably not all vendor's colors). Your idea sounds really cool, but from what I've seen, it seems your only option would be a printed color. Hopefully someone else can be of help. Having to settle on changing every 2 years isn't a horrible idea though if you really want the perfect match, but that's my view. Let us know what you find. And I'm looking forward to your mockups. Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball. |

| modiMINI | mock ups of vinyl design It was hard to get images of '04 MCS in Pepper White, but you get the idea. You are right, when we had looked the past couple of weeks, we could not find the Pepper White vinyl color in Oracle either, but I figured this Forum is such a great venue for finding solutions to problems like this, and I do appreciate everyones help. Thanks again. |

Offline | Well give it a few days, perhaps someone can help, as you say you never know ![]() The idea looks cool. And if you either stop the stripes at the sunroof, or used printed vinyl on the roof, I don't think either would detract a large amount. FYI: If you plan on getting 4 driving lights installed by your dealer you might run intro trouble, I don't think any US dealers have or are willing to do it, check into the threads on 4 lights for more info. You may want to do go an aftermarket route, or check with your dealer. (Unless you already have gotten them to agree to it, in which case, ignore this) Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball. |

| modiMINI | 4 driving lights Other dealers have installed 4 driving lights, and my dealer also agreed to install 4 lights. It is illegal to use them on public roads, but it is not illegal to have them installed on the vehicle. It would be more than inconsiderate to use them on the public roads -- it would be dangerous. So, they won't ever get turned on except for rally use on tracks or similar. |

Offline | I wasn't worried about the legality, I trust MINI owners to be considerate, and haven't been proved wrong yet. Just wanted to be sure you could get your car as close to the design as possible, but seems like you've already got that well planned out. Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball. |

Offline | Nice stripes. I notice that you stopped at the grill and didn't do the bumper. Reasons? (I'm fitting racer stripes right now, and I didn't know if I should include the bumper or not.) |

| modiMINI | no stripes on front bumper after grille Thanks Dark Silver S, The grille is going to have the chrome upper and lower pieces installed. I thought that trying to carry on the stripes after the interruption of all of those shiny horizontal chrome stripes would be difficult for the eye to piece back together -- it might look too disjointed. However, I am finding it difficult to figure out the best way to mount my custom Euro (antique British) license plate on the front of the S because there is no holder on an S -- in the US, they put an adaptor for a US plate, but I am in Florida and we are not required to have a front license plate -- thus, I can put the euro plate on the front. That was probably going to be my next post to find out how people with an MCS were mounting their euro style plates. If I cannot find a satisfactory way to mount the euro plate, then I might revisit the idea of continuing the stripes. |

Offline | You should be able to just order a Euro plate holding kit... It'll just involve cutting into the bumper, depends if you want to do that. Suposedly dealers can get them according to this thread: http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthread.php?t=28728 (Part # is on post 3) Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball. |
