tints

Went to Pentagon in Glasgow today to discuss the fitting of some tints.

Was told that there is new legislation coming out where tinting of the front side windows will become illegal.

I had previously only understood that they were going to crack down on the degree of tint, if this comes true the Police are going to be mighty busy.

So I decided that it was not worth the hassle and kept my £236 that they wanted for the mini.

I booked my b/fs car in for tinted today for his b/day. They told me about the new legislation coming out, it wont be illegal to tint ur front windows, but u will only be able to have them very lightly smoked.

Personaly i think its stupid and the government are just picking on stupid things and they should try sorting more important things out in this country!!!!!!!!!!!!

ive not heard about that. its a bit disappointing if its true though. i dont really expect the police to be cracking down on that sort of thing though, surely theres better things to be doing?!

just out of interest what does the £236 get you?

tints all round, irrespective of shade. they basically do 3 shades, light smoke, smoke and privacy (or something). They do rear, rear side and front side for that, it takes a morning to do.

They are also doing a special where the add in a security film, think this is to encourage you to buy cos the legislation changes are putting people off for now until they see how it comes out this year.

For me its not worth the hassle, I mean I am 38 not 17, dont get pulled that much any more but I hate petty rules and I hate legislation such as this. So for me it would be more stressful than pleasureable to buy.

£236, thats a good price from Pentagon, I just got quoted £330 from them in Birmingham. Still trying to decide if I should do it, is it too gangster? Or is it cool?

The only problem I have is knowing which one to drive?

I've been wondering what the legality of tinted windows are over here in the USA. I thought one could not have the front two windows tinted to the point of privacy...actually still think that's true. Although my husband recently bought a car through a police auction a, dare I say it, Suburban and the windows are all totally super dark - a former police vehicle.

I don't think it's too gangster at all and have been pondering it myself...eventually. Maybe.

ontheroadagain -- here in the states it varies state by state, in NY the law is as follows ...

1. driver's and passenger front windows 85% (which is pretty much what 'clear' glass is with a little dirt on it.
2. rear window and side windows NO LIMIT.

(for those outside the US we measure tints by the percentage of light allowed through)

I have 35% fronts and 15% rears, have to keep it two-toned to reduce the number of times I get pulled over ... all dark around here its a guarentee you will but as long as they see you made an attempt to go lighter in the front most cops will leave you alone

yeah my friend has 5%... i thnk 15% and 5%..look to thug life to mee
i dont have the street cred to have that dark

i also dont like different color tints...i feel if one's county police is very strict..then one should go 35% all around. just my opinion, i like the uniform look much better

so far wtih 20% all around (which is not very dark at all), i have been tix free. keeping fingers crossed
