Pic of my new rack :)

Very pleased, it cost £95 UK pounds from http://www.bestwicks.com in Derby.

It's really chunky and suits the MINI well

Can go surfing now ..... only it's a bit cold

It's funny, but even more heads turn as I drive with it on !? It makes the MINI a real lifestyle car

Here's a pic with bike mounts ... http://www.myfonepics.co.uk/rich/Ind...ent=1066594661

Good stuff, I think it looks very good. I may invest in one myself (although how pathetic is this-- I worry if I start going on bike trips, I'll end up getting the interior dirty!! ) !!

Anyone know if this is compatible with sunroof equipped cars..?
I'm not *really* botherd if I can't open my roof with it on, but is it ok with the glass etc..?

Nice!

Good find, RDMac! Thanks for sharing....

Please do tell us how it fixes to the top without drilling holes when your time allows....

PS. Fine, clean MINI. Smart-lookin' rack. Superb, "52" plate! Lovely 'hood.

There's been quite a bit of discussion on the Mont Blanc rack on MINI2. Run a search and you should find a few more pics and stuff.

It basically clips on to the plastic gutter. I've been considering one for a while (mountain biking), but although it's rated to carry two mountain bikes I've yet to hear from anyone on here who does this regularly.

Thanks for your comments guys/gals

I doesn't really clip to the gutter. It fits around the gutter and under the door windows - around the frame.

I intend to do regular biking, and took two mountain bikes out the other day, it was very stable and didn't cause any marking.

It is designed to carry up to 50kg, my bikes are quite light though!

Although I really got it for my 7'10 MiniMal surfboard

Might also consider a box for camping .....

It's no probs with sunroof

the sales pic has one. The feet fit quite close to the edge.

I've found someone at last! Most people seem to be carrying surfboards or roof boxes.

Do you have any pics with the bikes on? What kind of bike carrier do you use? Mont Blanc do a decent one.

Let us know how you get on with the bikes.

Cheers.

They are fairly cheap mounts, like the Mont Blanc 622 Classic Roof Cycle Carrier but are not branded.

Sorry, no pictures of the bikes on the roof .. yet

However, I just bought my wife a full susspension bike and these will not fit it

I bet your a bit annoyed then This is what I'm worried about-- my bike has a very fat and oddly sized frame which I suspect wont work with many bike carriers, which makes it hard to find one-- mail order being out as I would need to try one first

I got the bike mounts for free, so not such a big deal. But will be looking at designs in shops before I order a new mount.

Totally happy with the roof bars though

It looks like the bars on this are rectangular in x-section, in whih case it might take the Thule bike racks, which can handle fat tubes.

The bar profile is the standard square tube and should take most standard fitments

sounds like you need the bike carrier which grips the drop out on the front fork (with the whell removed - obviously). Thule make these and they don't need to grip the frame at all. Very stable, took my downhill MTB to the Alps using one last year.
Try The Roofbox Company, I think they're based in Sedbergh if I reember rightly, if not, they advertise in the back of Mountain Biking UK regularly.

Hyper Blue/Black Cooper. Side skirts/Aero grill, Milltek, chrome bitz and a scary roof graphic.

Thanks for the comments.

I was wondering if the adjustable bar on this one would do the trick .....

Mont Blanc Barracuda Roof Cycle Carrier

£60.00 inc. VAT

But if not I might go for this as suggested, Securely carries bike with front wheel removed ........

Thule Velowise 511 Roof Cycle Carrier

£60.00 inc. VAT

Both a bit expensive though !
