United-Kingdom illumination supposition...

hello

got a couple of questions regarding mini's lighting...

1 - can you change the sidelight bulbs for whiter ones? mini has nice white (not xenon) main and fog bulbs, but nasty yellowy side bulbs... can they be changed?

2 - how do i leave a parking light on.. i cant make it work. i've tried leaving the indicator on with the engine off, but it doesn't work... is it one of those funny programmable options?

help as always is appreciated... =)

1) Yes, see the FAQ & DIY section.

2) Mine and Abi's work with the indicator trick?

1) Yes. I've got some - can't remember the name, made by Philips.

2) Pretty much what you are doing already. Might be you have to do it either before or after removing the key. Not really used in the UK, think it's a German thing - I know VWs have this feature but not any car I've owned before MINI.

cool thanks peeps.. does halfords stock these bulbs or do i have to order them off the net?

will also have a play with the indicator then key routine, as opposed to the other way around (which is how they work on my old VW).

I ordered the Phillips ones from here
http://www.powerbulbs.com
They have a special offer on , if you buy certain bulbs , you get the whiter sidelights free.
I ordered them on Tuesday morning and got them Wednesday
They are alot whiter than the standard ones too but i have seen the LED type on and they are really good but i dont think they are legal but thats not stopping me from getting some

word of advice

Buy silvervision indicator bulbs from one of the sites listed above first.

No matter what bulb you buy (except for the led ones,) the orange indicator will make it yellowy!

have a peek at www.carstylingdirect.com

Get some white led sidelight bulbs, they are on my car and look really cool. IMO

But!, dont be tempted to go for the blue ones, cause i was stopped in little under 3 mins for them! Bit too bright!

Focus > Mini One > Mini Cooper > Mini Cooper > BMW 316 > BMW 318 > MINI ONE > BMW 120i > MINI ONE PEPPER! - IM BACK!!

The LEDs are not road legal, although you'd probably get away with it, as most people on here who have them have.

You could go to www.powerbulbs.com who when you buy the indicators give you the blue vision sidelights for free (as in the faq on replacing them).
