| Hulk. | License Plate Help! In Missouri, we have to have front plates, and so the problem arrises that they HAVE TO drill into the front of my MCS to attach the plastic holder to put on the plate... Has anyone gotten around this with mabey a rigged holder or something that would keep it from being drilled into the body?? Any help would be appreciated ASAP.Thanks, Scott |

Offline | if you have to have a front plate why worry about it you will never see the holes? IF you plan to go illegal and hoping to not get busted just tell your dealer to not install the front plate but to put the holder in the boot |

Offline | It is the law in Wisconsin as well to have a front mounted license plate, however it looks awful on the MCS so I elected to forego the eyesore. I figured if the police would ever pull me over for not having one I could avoid the ticket. For I would be able to blow them off by telling them that I have a placed an order for a special bracket and that it was backordered. To make it even better when you pick your car up have them make up a fake order form for you. They should have no problem doing so at the parts department, for you just bought a car from them. Be sure to leave the date out so it doesn't expire. Another route to take is if you are given a ticket for not having a front license plate, later provide them with a picture of you car with a plate on the front. Hold it on temporarily with some double-sided tape. NO damage to your car. Ticket should be revoked. At least that is how it works in Wisconsin. Have gone 4500 miles and it hasn't been an issue for law enforcement. Maybe they are just too lazy or have better things to do than worry about front license plates missing. If you're taken aside by a local officer you may pass daily, for instance you live in a small town, it's a whole other story, but that shouldn't be the case as you live in STL. Closing words: go without it, take your chances, front plates are unneccesary. Hope that helps you reach you decision |

Offline | In California fronts are required. Rather than no license plate I pulled off the US plate holder off my 2003 Cooper and put on a euro plate from fancyplates.com. It attaches with double sided sticky tape they sent. I had them match the numbers on my back plate so I would obey the spirit of the law if not the letter. So far no police have bothered me. The size of the euro plate goes well with the shape of the car on the front. |

Offline | One of these days, one of the local constabulary in one of the small Wisconsin towns is gonna boff me for no front plates. I had planned on saying that the dealer didn't install them, but some five thousand miles is a bit far. I've gone by a fair number of cops, and so far, so good. Keepin' my fingers crossed. |

Offline | In Oregon, they issue us two plates. My dealer did not install the front plate bracket. The dealer said that the only time you will be stopped is if you are stopped for another infraction, and then they can ticket you for no front plate as well. I don't know if that is really the law or not, but have had my MCS since Feb.'03 and have had no problems. I've pretty much forgotten there is no front plate, but still keeping my fingers crossed. Some of the double faced auto trim tapes will likely hold your bracketry on without any mechanical fasteners, but will probably have to be removed with a heat gun when you want to take the bracket off. ![]() |
