Don't all MINI's have rain sensing wipers?

Actually the auto-dim mirror is a better choice for tinted rear windows. The auto-dim has several shades and will compensate for the tinted rear windows. I have a 40% US (60% euro, I think) tint and the auto-dim mirror works just fine.

I've found that the auto wipers vary from just right to too fast. Depends on the weather. Light mist rain is the worst for them IMHO.

Hmm? You could steal my auto-dimming rear view mirror or my auto wipers and I would be slightly upset, but if you stole my xenons I would be angry, very angry. Get them if you want, but I would rate other options with higher priority. If I could have got the heated windscreen without them I would have. The only way here to get a heated front screen is to buy the Visibility Pack that includes the auto dim and auto wipe functions.

I don't do much motorway work, but if I did I might reconsider them as useful as opposed to unnecessary. They do work with factory rear tints. They work very well, much to my surprise.

I ditto everyone's recommendations regarding the auto dimming rear view mirror/rain sensing wipers. For US$150 you get 2 of the best safety options in the MINI, right after the MFSW.

Heated Windscreen is not available in the USA (But it is in Canada and Mexico), so the auto mirror and wipers are sold as a standalone option. Interestingly, these are not included as part of the Cold Pack either.

Is all the wiring there for the heated screen? Could you (the next time you get a broken screen) have some one like Glass giant get a heated screen and plug it in?
I have one on my late mothers 89 Range Rover love it both for winter ice and summer fog and after the first two were replaced due to stress cracks under warranty we got the 3rd and it is a PPG unit that is still fine 13 years later

i was able to finally use the auto wiper the last few days(rain in north ca) and i don't regret getting them. they work w/o any need for driver intervention for highway driving.

the only slight flaw i noticed was that the wiper rate slowed when i was driving slower(city driving). i don't think it's speed sensitive, but the rain drops were blocking my view enough that i almost manually activated a quick wipe. fortunately, auto wipe intervened in time.

will have to do more city driving when raining to get a better feel.

anyway, for $150 i think it's no brainer option to add as it does come with auto dim mirror as well.
